Subject: F&B 72mm 4.7L TB, recieved.. IP: Logged
Message: I recieved a 72mm and a 70mm TB today from F&B for more testing!! Just in time for the Big Chrysler Classic show and race this weekend!! Both of these TB's are production units, they have been completely plated and customized with F/B logo!!
They look absolutley AWESOME, I can't begin to do justice to how sweet they look!! Hats off to Bruce for Engineering/producing such an awesome piece!
Hopefully I be able to make a few runs, and possibly pull the dyno (if its there) this weekend! Can't wait to get the 72mm bolted on this evening, and see how it does.
I'll report more soon.....

Message: I don't have a Z-tube yet, still using a homebrew intake tube. If the Mobile Dyno is not at the show this weekend, then I'll just run down to the local speedshop and make a few pulls next week!
No LSD, hmm, go with a true locking style, aftermarket, much better than the factory Limited slip unit!!

Message: Hey matt you dont sound to impressed with the factory lsd any reason. my '96 4x4 318 cc sport has factory lsd front and rear. that damn thing clicks pretty loud especially when hot. Ive never had lsd before i sure hope this is normal. I have never run low on gear oil and i am at 162,000km (101,000 miles). i dont know the ratio but it is low because i have the towing/sport pgk. about 2200rpm@ 100km(60mph)i dont race and it is an auto. Any insight on the durability would be appreciated.

Message: Matt has a terrible habit of launching his truck from 3500 rpm by absolutely dumping the clutch. On warm gooey slicks. At the ultra-grippy dragstrip. That's the sort of thing that will give you whip-lash even if you knew it's coming. He has already blown the gears out of the factory 9 1/4" rear-end that came with his truck. When you launch like that, the factory limited slip is already kinda questionable. HeeeHeee......

Message: Heeee hee heee, could'nt have said it better Alex !! Those factory spider gears were never meant to see that kind of abuse :)
Seriously, the factory LSD is OK, but if you're in a situation like Dr.Q, he does'nt have the factory LSD, and is looking to upgrade to a POSI unit. I recomended going to an aftermarket "locker" style, rather than the factory LSD. I would say that the factory LSD has served you well at 100K miles, you're probably reaching the service life of the factory LSD.

Message: Matt....
Did you get that e-mail about Jason Hammond & his 7-cyl 408? He gave up on Chrysler axles and strapped a Ford 9" under his hooptie. Didn't even have to shorten the axle tubes. Just re-weld the shock mounts and spring pads. It was cool. He had rotated the upper shock mounts so that they are vertical. He's using the Rancho RS 5000 adjustables. When he tightens it down, there's only about 2" of travel. That combined with the Cal-Tracs bars make it like a ladder bar/coil over car. Now, THAT'S a launch!! Bwaaahhhhaaaaa!!!

Message: Yea, Got the email Alex!!! Neat deal with that truck, will be looking for it in Mopar Muscle Mag!!
BTW, I bolted the 72mm Throttle Body on last night from F&B!! WOoooooooooooooooo Hooo
OH MY BLANK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My factory tach is now useless, cause its still pulling past the limits of the tach!! Bawaa haa
Well, ok, maybe not 6 grand, but it will pull hard up to 5500, no problem !! Huge seat of the pants difference, a little loss on the low end, but with a 5spd you can make up for that with a higher rpm launch!! Rolling start is similiar to a John Force holeshot !!!
Can't wait to hit the track tomorrow, and maybe the dyno too......
Start saving your coins folks, F&B Throttle bodys are a MUST have.

| RE: F&B 72mm 4.7L TB, first test results IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I was able to make a few runs this weekend with the F&B 72mm TB. These "real world" Results were good!! I did my testing on my street tires, rather than my slicks. Previous best on street rubber was 14.73 on Labor Day. here are my results for friday night:
1:
.6288 RT
2.12 60'
10.08 1/8
72.28 mph
15.48 1/4 MISSED SECOND GEAR
91.40 mph
2:
.4355 RT
2.12 60'
9.44 1/8
74.02 mph
14.77 1/4
91.93 mph
3.
.2543 RT
2.08 60'
9.31 1/8
74.34 mph
14.61 1/4
92.55 mph
This was on my bald SS20's @ 25 psi
At the show on Sat. the Dyno was not there :(, and I only got 2 runs in, one of which I missed 2nd AGAIN ?????
Saturday results:
1:
.525 RT
2.052 60'
10.17 1/8
72.00 mph
15.59 1/4 MISSED SECOND GEAR, AGAIN!!!!!!
91.00 mph
2:
.521 RT
2.06 60'
9.23 1/8
74.96 mph
14.491 1/4
93.14 mph Wooooooo Hoooooo !!!!!!! ON RADIALS!!!! This 72mm TB RULESSSSSS!!!!Picked up 1 mph, and .24 sec over my previous best run on street rubber with a modified 68mm TB !!!!! Not to shabby!!
If you're upgrading from a stock TB to this F&B TB, I would expect your results to be even better!!
With slicks I should be REALLY close to a 14.0 !!!!
the TB is super strong up top, might have lost something down low, off of idle, but not much.
Friday night I raced with spare tire and tailgate on, and saturday I took only the spare off, around half tank of gas. Weighed in at 3600 lbs(3800 W/me)
Hope to get some dyno time real soon, that will tell the tale!! Looks very promissing so far!!

Message: Talk to Bernd, at Speedtweaks to get your F&B throttle Body, they come in 2 or 3 different sizes.
As for the radials, well there is'nt much left at all!! Matter of fact I just went by the tire dealer and got a Quote of $85 each for my Firestone Firehawk SS20's, 275/60/15 (thats mounted and balanced)
Usually its 3rd gear that is the toughest to hit, I've missed 3rd twice, and now 2nd gear twice, I'm getting rusty I guess ?
