Subject: New 6.1 liter HEMI for Dodge Truck

From "The Buzz"
http://www.car-truck.com/chryed/buzz/b100901.htm

Starting with the 2005 model year.
"... the final rating for the 6.1 liter will be around 350 ponies and that it will put out a whooping 450 lb. ft of torque. In addition to being used in the Ram truck expect to see the 6.1 show up in a special limited edition version of the next generation Grand Cherokee (WK)."

They should have just taken the R/T... Replaced the 5.9 with that blown out 354, like the one thats in the Super 8 hemi wagon, with the 430 horse and the 470 lbs of torque, added AWD, and went from there if they wanted a quick STABLE truck.

Personally, I think there is no way that Dodge will stop production of the SRT -10, it has raised too much interest among potential buyers. It is just too good of a truck and too much money that they wouldn't get if they didn't produce it

Well if idiots at DC come out if the 6.1 (370cid?) I don't think its going to put out that much tourqe (450) Remember the half ass Hemi 5.7 is only rated at 375 FT Lbs and at 345HP.

And because these new engines have to rev so high to each the peak (something GM started)Don't expect them to be tourqe monsters. Your looking at about 400 for the 6.1.

Also I agree with Justin. A VERSION of the big 505 V10 would be just the kind of top of the line motor the HD's should have.

Hey idiots, where do you get your information? The new 6.1 liter HEMI V8 will put out 425 horsepower and 420lb-ft of torque, and who says the 5.7 liter is half assed. What do you have in your truck? These are actual numbers, this is more power than the old 8.0 liter V10. BEAT THAT CHEVY

A non factory chevy engine can beat that. I am buying a World Products Small block 427 with 530 advertised hp, it has more though, they just don't make it known.

buying a big block is kinda dumb, take a truck that already has a bad weight ratio front to back and make it alot worse. Doesn't make alot of sense. I can procharge this engine and make around 1300-1400hp. I know a guy with the world 454 and pro charger and runs 8.03 at 165mph.Small blocks rule.

small blocks rule, but are you talking about a 454 big block which is a stock Chevy design???

Or are you talking about something like the old 307 block with a I forget was it a 400 crank? And some other mods. I know there was a way to make a 454 small block. Some old hot rod buddies told me how it was done but that was years ago.

Aftermarket world products block, with a 4.250bore and 4.0 stroke. Its all custom made from World Products, and yes it is a small block. I believe with a Dart little m tall deck you can make a 472 small block also.

my big block weighs only 30 more lbs than a 5.9. After some aluminum heads, it will weigh less than one.

it originally weighed 65 lbs more than 5.9. Then i put on an aluminum manifold that cut 35 lbs. Stock manifold is a heavy bish.

american products is some good stuff. We had a set of their 2.02 heads on a 350.... Ran really well.

my realistic goal for my motor is 4.40 bore (stock 4.34) with a 3.75 stroke (440 crank) and a set of edie heads. Either that or my neighbor is trying to sell me a 440+.040 with 11.5:1 compression, edie heads, .608 lift mechanical cam, team g manifold.. etc etc etc... ran 10's in his duster.

big blocks arent dumb.. that's just something scared small blocks say. my truck weighs less on the front end with the BB than it did with the V6. I accomedated the BB's arrival with some weight redux.

it's nice to hear what you can do... and what i can do.

somebody "can" always do something better.

You just cant beat the torque of a big block i have a 68 dart GSS 440 4 speed dana 60 4:10 sure grip. it its as much fun as my SRT-10 and my cummins ram. but i still like small blocks for the high RPMs and quick hole shots. I lemon lawwed my 04 qc because of trans probs and oil burning (4.7) about 2 quarts a week with 3000 mi. dealer and diamler excuses pisst me off. so since i never learn lessons i bought another 04 qc 4.7 (new) leftover i would like to install a 5.7 hemi or get more H.P. out of the 4.7. it is a family daily driver anyone got any ideas?

All to his own. I can't believe that a big block is only 35lbs heavier than a 360. I guess it backs up the 360boat anchor saying.lol. is that a race motor you are building, cause .608 lift is pretty big. This world engine's hyd roller cam is only .525". and makes 530+hp. A cam swap to a solid roller makes 600hp apparently.

.608 is pretty nasty!

The biggest I've had so far was .512 on a 302 Ford. It had a nice agressive lope and some wicked 7,000 RPM's screaming down the street!
One old man accused me of having a 460 in that Fox Body because of the "going sideways" during shifts (automatic tranny at that time).
He couldn't believe it when he saw a little 302 under that hood. It had 3.08 gears. Wonder what some 4.10's would have been like.

He Ed are you gay? I just asked that becaue it seems like your first gay experience was in a Chevy with a small block and you may have encountered a big rod. I thought thats why you like Chevy, because what has happened to you in them.
