same time every month. just last month it was the 5.7l hemi. someone needs to get their rumours all in a row. i also here every month that mitsubishi is coming back out with a new vr4 in a few years. sometimes it's a V8 model(this one's pretty funny if you know anything about the cars), sometimes it's a I6 TT. happens just about every week w/ the supras too. mostly wishful thinking.

Well the 5.7 hemi and a 5-speed in the Dakota would kill anything truck ever built already so why add the supercharger from the factory? They need to be able to sell vipers you know! According the www.car-truck.com the buzz predicts a 1500 series ram with the 5.7 hemi badged as a Ram R/T in the fall of 2002. It will be interesting to see how well the big truck runs with it, also I wonder what kind of wheels they will go with, you can already get 20's on the regular 2002 Ram. To big of a package for my blood, I hope they don't ruin the Dakota's looks on the redesign.

There isn't a real big weight difference between the dakota and the ram. Performance should be ok.

I agree toooo big for me also, even though the QC isn't a whole lot shorter than the EC ram.

Kinda off topic, but I heard someone mention the Supra coming back. Boy, wouldn't that be nice. Maybe the prices of the 94-97s would go down again then. Damn ricer movies. But on a more serious note, I have it on a very reliable (definite) word, that the Mazda RX8 will be available late 2003 as a 2004 model. It will have a redesigned (read: stronger, more reliable) version of the 1.3L Triple rotor from the last RX7. I can't wait. Hopefully it doesn't look as ugly as the concept from the 2001 NAIAS. Give me some feedback.

Humberto H,

At the end of the article you posted the link to said,"Look for the 345hp hemi V8 engine to make its appearance in the light-duty Ram 1500 in next model year."(i.e.2004)

For the RX-8 posts;
The last production rotary was a 1.3L DUAL rotor not triple.

A 2.0L triple rotor would be godly... well for a street racer, not for us truckies. Rotary's have low torque values.

They're already making the 1500 Ram w/ the Hemi, just not shipping them from St.Louis yet. They should start hitting the lots in late January. This motor is a direct and complete replacement for the 5.9.
Hemis will probably go into the Durango, but the Dakota????.... haven't heard yet :-(

triple rotors would be hell, you know how long that engine would last? surely not even as long as the dual rotor TT engines...
rx8 will be here soon, to do battle with the 350z...

If you take DAMN good care of a rotary it can last quite a while, my buddy just picked up a junker rx7(I towed it home for him :D) to gank the engine and put it into his daily driver rx7, his daily driver had just past 170k miles on the stock engine. Boy just takes damn damn damn good care of it.

the 2.0L rotary (20b) is kinda just for racing, and nothing else. Might not last long as a daily driver, but the mofo can put out some nasty power at high boost!

Well, more RX8 news. 245hp, for those who don't know. Not too bad. It is going to be available late 2003/early 2004 in four configurations. It will be available as either a "luxury" or "sport" model, in either an automatic or a manual. Automatic sports will start around $25-27K, depending on region and availability, with the Manual trans luxury models drawing well over $29K. Still rather affordable for a sporty car. Oh yeah, look for it in XMEN 2 the movie.
Anyways, I want more future R/T info. anyone with a reliable source?

I agree with Buddy. Have you guys seen the torque figures for the RX-8? It's nowhere near the HP; it's something like 185? lb/ft?? (Don't quote me on that, but it's pretty dismal.)

I mean, 245HP is impressive, but I've seen electric toothbrushes with more torque. (Um, don't quote me on that last one either.)
