Message: The Grand Cherokee for 2002 has a 4.7 265HP.They added symmetric pop-up-style pistons raising its compression ratio,they modified and fine-tuned the heads,connecting rods,crankshaft and intake manifold.Two knock sensors where also added.
Move over RT,the 4.7 is going to blow your doors off.

Message: HAHA "Move over RT, the 4.7 is going to blow your doors off" Umm yeah you think they will just leave the RT the way it is forever? Yes its going to change and yes it will have more power, but mabey if they leave it the way it is for the next few years and keep updating the 4.7 then I would say yes the RT is getting its doors blown off. I also have a 2001 grand cherokee V8, it really gets up an goes. It will run consistent low 15's which is inline with alot of R/t's, mostly because of great traction. Lets just hope they don't drop the bomb on the RT otherwise I will be forced to go to another manufacturer.

Message: What I'm saying,if someone would take two Dakota's of equal weight{or a Grand Cherokee} with the 4.7 265HP and the 5.9 RT,the 4.7 would smoke the 5.9!
Peace RT owners,just think of a 5.7 Hemi in the Dakota RT.That combo should smoke a Lighting{God forbid if that happens hehehe}
Wayne help me out of this jam! Hey-Did you order that DeadBird? hehehehe SORRY!

Message: While they may keep an engine that has similar displacement the current 5.2 and 5.9 are going to be retired very soon. The 4.7 can support displacement larg enough to fill the role currently filled by the 5.2-5.9 in the Dakotas, Jeep Cherokes and in two wheel drive Rams. I think that they will probably have a truck block based on the new push rod hemi design for the 1 ton heavy work truck and for 3/4-1 ton 4x4.

Message: Funny thing happening over at www.jeepsunlimited.com The people who drive the 4.7 HO after stepping out of a regular 4.7 GC think the HO feels pretty fast but the people stepping out of a 5.9 limited think they aren't any big deal. It seems the 4.7 -vs- 5.9 war is alive and well over there as well. I have to say there aren't many 4.7 Jeep owners there who dispute the 5.9 limited's king of the hill status. But then again the 5.9 was in the lighter ZJ -vs- the heavier WJ the 4.7 gets.
