Message: Just got the truck up to speed the other day playing with a Durango on the Interstate, He couldn't keep up but the truck shut down at about 115mph-120mph, I thought the Jet Stage 2 would take care of the limiter but I guess not, any way to get rid of it or set it at a higher point. I believe this can be done with hypertech's programmer but they don't make one for the 4.7L yet....any help would be great..

The Jet is supposed to raise the limiter from 98 to 115. I only know of one that actually removes it: Marty (KRC Performance) - Custom PCM Flash.

Again...different vehicles of the same make/model will perform differently. That's why some are slower and others are faster...with the same engine/trans/options. The speed limiter is supposed to be there though. (Mine is supposed to have a rev-limiter and speed limiter built into the program of the PCM as well. Have to run the MSD rev-limiter at 5500 and have had the truck at 115 with room to go as well. Don't know why...but others with the same make/model have hit the rev-limiter.)

Message: I had my '93 at 122MPH. I'm not sure if that was top speed or limited. I know somoene who had a firebird and their limiter cut the fuel to the engine and the trans ran down the speed. In my case, it ran smooth at a steady 122 just wouldnt go any faster. I tried it several times and pushed it for about a minute or two with no avail.

I'm sure it doesnt compete with whats in the midwest though but living in New Jersey, I dont get too many opportunities to push it to the limit. I have 235/70/15's. The newer ones are a little more aerodynamic. I also found 3rd gear tachs out at exactly 100 MPH with a 350 rear.

Ugh...went out drinkin with the neighbors last night...again. Head doesn't hurt though.
On the PCM and Fuel question, you "can" run regular unleaded but will have to add a bottle of your favorite octane booster with the Mopar PCM. The good octane boosters run about $8 - $12 (NOS, 104, ProBlend) which will actually raise your cost for fuel.
Example: (Using our TX fuel prices in my area)
Regular Unleaded ($1.18/ga * 20 Gallons): $23.60
Extra Unleaded ($1.25/ga * 20 Gallons): $25.00
Super Unleaded ($1.38/ga * 20 Gallons): $27.60
Add $5.00 (average for a decent octane booster) and the Regular Unleaded now costs slightly more than running Super Unleaded).

Message: My 2000 4.7 reg. cab ran to 115 before shutting down. The only embarassment I had was on the interstate coming from New Orleans I was running a late model Mustang GT. He couldn't think about keeping up, that is until my limiter shut down and he passed me!! By the way I (was) running a basically stock truck with dual flowmasters, K&N filter, 3.90 gears, and a cowl induction hood. Tires were stock Goodyears 245/65/15's. All that is gane now since I totaled it last weekend on the side of a Ford Aerostar. Dumbass from Kentucky failed to yield at a light. I guess he thought he actually had a chance to beat me in the turning lane!! I never saw him until he darted in front of me and an 18-wheeler. I hit him at about 45 mph. I drove the truck 72 miles home and to the body shop and they still totaled it!!!
