Hey I recently got a good deal on a '98 Ram V10. After playing with it a little I was thinking about putting it in a genII dakota. Anyone know of someone who has done this? And also I have a chance to get the viper 6 speed tranny for pretty cheap, will this bolt up to the non-viper v10? thanks for any help.

super bee dak I have seen this done before somewhere on this site, it looked pretty good, but I think it was the viper engine. I would probably ask mopar if it would hook up to the non viper engine, they would know better then us dakota owners.

Go To The General Board and Look for REAL V-10 DAKOTA!. That post has three pics of a Reg cab Dakota with a Viper v-10 under the hood. Hope that helps your creative juices any.

I just hope that the new V-10 has a better life line than the old ones. From when I was shopping for my Dak (I was also looking at the Ram)I had quite a few people tell me that the old v-10 in the Rams were good up to 65K or so, then many problems were found. I guess since it was almost the same as the Viper engine they didn't expect people to put that many miles on those engines. But that could be hearsay, and I wouldn't really care either way. It would be badas to have the v-10.

I bet you they had to rip the firewall out or either do alot of shaving and such to get the block to fit in there.
But I am probably completely wrong.

The tranny will bolt right up because the
engines are the same. When dodge owned
lamborgini or lambo scince I can't spell, they
gave them the ram v-10 and told them to make
it a high performance engine. So it's the same
engine but, one is aluminum.

hey Duh,
If you're gonna flame somebody for spelling the name the wrong way, the least the could do is spell it correctly yourself!
The correct spelling is: "Lamborghini" You need to take out the "u" ship-dit! Ya know, you're on the Internet.....the least you could've tried doing a search!
