Subject: Shift Kits IP: Logged
Message: I've been debating on purchasing a shift kit for my 99 R/T. I know the Auto Tranny on my vehicle can be sluggish at times and I'd prefer more control over it. I've determined that it is fairly inexpensive ( under 150 or so ) and can be done in an afternoon.
Do any of you guys have suggestions or opinions. I have heard good things from both the TransGo Shift Kit and the Mopar Performance Shift Kit. As well as what I would need to purchase and where I can get it at.
Thanks
Josh

Message: The mopar kit is junk, just go to www.moparchat.com to find out how bad they really are. Stick with the transgo kit

Message: RTJohn,
Thanks for the heads up. Do you know where I can find out which kit I will need to get. From what I have gathered it looks like Dakotas have the 42RH transmission, but I wanna be sure before I order the wrong thing.
Thanks

Message: Hey man, I heard the other day that V6 Dakotas have the 44RH. V8 Dakotas have 46RH. And the R/T or any 360 Dakota has the 48RH. I read it off DML.
Good luck,
Joey

Message: you want the trans go kit. i put one in my 01 5.9 quad. only because b&m does not make one. however, the trans go is quite good, shifts are much faster and crisper. it now barks 2nd under full throttle. the more mods i do, the more agressive the shifts seem to feel. trans will last longer too. while you are at it, call summit and get a remote trans filter kit, as it will filter 1000 times better than a stock screen.
