Message: I have a 2001 reg cab. Before ordering, I called Kenny Brown to make sure that their "X-Brace" would fit my truck since their web site only lists applications up to 2000. No problem, they said. So, after waiting 2 months to get it (I'm in Korea) I start installing it. It didn't take long for me to realize that it isn't going to fit. There is a resonator or converter or something in the way of one of the braces. I e-mailed K.B. photos and explained that it didn't fit. They didn't seem to care too much and then confessed that they didn't actually fit their product to a 2001. If it didn't cost so much to ship it back, I would. Sure, I could modify the exhaust, but that isn't the point. They didn't offer to refund, replace or redesign the brace after I asked them what they were going to do. Buyer beware. Very dissapointing. Guess they've been working on too many Fords or something.

Message: I had a similar situation installing a Holley Throttle Body on my 2001 5.9L. I had spent several hours installing my TB only to discover (at the end of the job) that there was a cable pin missing. I had to re install the OEM TB and send the Holley back for replacement. The Holley Tech explained that Dodge changed the design in mid 2001 blah blah blah.
Appearantly, the 2001 model Dakota has many significant changes from the 2000 and prior models. Even the replacement grills are listed differently for the 2001 model.
What do you do in Korea? That's a long drive from Katy, Texas. Did you ship your DAK or did you buy it there? I would think it would be a real head turner in Korea!!! Also, if you don't mind my ignorance, what is a "X-Brace"??

Message: bill, the x-brace bolts the the frame. when you take a corner the frame wants to flex. what the brace does is bolts the RF part of the frame to the LR and the LF to the RR. it looks like a X under the truck. and makes it corner better.

Message: Bill, I specially ordered my Dakota through the base exchange service. They offer military personnel a decent price on new vehicles. I waited about 4 months for it to be built and shipped. (I'm authorized a vehicle here, so it was shipped "free" on my orders)
I'm a quality assurance representative for contract maintenance on certain aircraft we have here. My background is aircraft maintenance, specifically the large cargo aircraft. (Crew Chief for short)
There are actually 3 other Dakotas where I'm at. I'm the only one with a 4.7L though. The others are all "hopped up", unlike mine which is still stock.
