Subject: what kind of times could I expect... IP: Logged
Message: I'm seriously thinking about trading in my R/T and moving over to a Z-28... the only thing is, there are way too many z-28's out there....
I do have a list of mods that I have or would like to have done if I keep the truck. I just want to know what kind of 1/4 times to expect.
JBA headers
3" cat
3.5" Borla XR exhaust
2350 stall
mopar pcm
52 mm tb
m1 intake
RT heads
stock cam
150 shot of spray
28x10 slicks
cal tracs
could these set me in the low 12's or are we looking at more extensive motor work
I really don't konw what to do...

Message: I would expect mid twelves if you were racing here in Arizona. Not sure where you are at or what the altitude/atmospheric conditions are like there. I've heard people claim that they go a good half second quicker at other places in the US....
With all of that stuff, I'd also opt for a performance cam and some rockers.

Message: I would worry a little about the cam, becasue this thing would still have to pass emissions. I know there are some good cams out there...
I live in chicago, so sometimes we have high temps and high humidity, and other days the air is cold and dry... so there are days where the truck really hauls ass... I'm just trying to figure out if it would be easier to get rid of the truck and move to a Z... but like I said, there are so many z-28's out there...

Message: There is no doubt that the Z would be quicker than the Dakota. If you put the 150 shot on a Z, you would really go fast! It all comes down to whether you really want a Dakota or a Z28.

Message: yea, mopar sells the 408 kit for $699 with keath black forged pistons. unfortunatly you have to pull the engine.
if you dont want to do a cam go with the 1.7 roller rockers. made a big differance on my 5.2. probably even better on your 5.9
if you get a Z with only a few boltons you are in the 12's. plus you get a 6speed! but the car will rattle like all he11 after some miles are put on it. i was thinking of getting a trans-am but i dont like rattles

Message: Hey I know what you mean about the Z-28's in chicago, I have lived there for 21 years. That is pretty much all you see on the south side. Those and Mustangs all the time. I am currently at school now, but there are some good R/T clubs in the chicagoland area if you are interested.
