Message: For the 180 t-stat, Remove the engine splash guard by carefully using the forked end of a hammer to pull out the plastic rivets( if you damage them you can always get new ones at local auto store, then locate the lower radiator hose. You'll need a couple quarts of coolant, hopefully you have a green coolant, if your coolant is orange, then reuse the coolant. Anyway locate the lower rad hose and follow it to the engine. Note the lower rad is connected to the engine via two bolts, one you can undo from sticking your arm though the engine bay from the top, and the other you will get while you are underneath the engine. lots of fluid will come out so be prepared with a bucket. pull the lower rad away from away from the engine and you'll see a T-stat. Remember how it looks so you can replace the t-stat the same exact way. Um people here use the Robert Shaw T-stat(unsure of parts number)Pull straight out on the T-stat to remove it, replace with new one(remember to use the new gasket) and bolt the lower rad back, torque down. and your almost done (Drink beer now) Buy some distilled water and make 50/50 concentration of coolant. Refill via the rad. cap on the upper rad. hose, run engine, and refill as nescessary till you see no more air in the upper rad. hose to make certain that the entire coolant sys. is filled with coolant. Then disconnect the battery, turn key to on, wait 15 secs, turn key off, reconnect battery. Now your done.

Message: I have a '01 4.7 auto Quad with Gibson
exhaust, homemade holley intake, bosch
platinums and a Jet stage 2. My truck ran
extremely cool even when it was stock. I
emailed the Jet tech people and told them that
I had heard of problems with the trucks
computer dealing with altered thermostats.
They told me to stick with the stock t-stat run
premium and i shouldnt have any problems. I
did and have for 15000 miles, my truck hits the
speed limiter at the end of onramps as
necessary. A side benifit is if i drive
responsibly (ha ha) im getting three more
MPG. Good luck

Message: I run the 180 t-stat in my 5.2 with a Jet II and runs fine, they are likely covering their butts, but if it works, why mess with it?
