Next time you see this guy, don't give him a chance to open the bottle.

COMPUCAR Nitrous-in-a-bag....Very Sneaky system. "Magic Wand" mounts into the air box, very sly. We put the $395 system on my buddies Contour SVT...Put some cars at the track to shame... They kept wanting to look under the hood cause they swore we were spraying...Um...Look for yourself... We routed the "wand" on the under side of the Factory air box, (before the mass air meter) and ran the plastic tubing under the car, and into the duffle bag in the trunk. Very nice system.

The Contour ran consistent 15.2's (off the spray) with the 100HP jet, it would turn 14.0's....

Look to see if you see something plugged into the cigarette lighter, with a green button at the end of a cord....

To bad the system is made for a mass-air equipped vehicle....No speed density kits like it.

OK, now I see it's easy for truck envy to take place here.

4.0/4.7 Dakota obviously being the better looking truck, with more payload, more power, etc... ;)

I took a cruise over to the Ford Ranger forums, and yes, some of these trucks could run a 4.7 Dakota. BUT not without dropping some serious dough to do it, or a nitrous kit.

Motor Trend has a 1998 Splash 4.0 regular cab 5-spd auto rated at a 16.8@79mph a 2003 X-tended cab 4.0 5-spd auto at 17.6 (I'm guessing because of the heavier body, and rear gearing)

Here is a signature of one of the 5-spd manuals in the Ranger forums, with a few little mods.

Times are posted in my sig. with the mods done. Time slip posted, click my "www", at the bottom of page 1

Best 1/4 mile time: 16.74 @82 MPH

SORRY, but that won't cut the cheese against the 4.7L

My buddy in his club cab 4.7L 2002 auto 4x4 on 32" tires runs 16.50's, and I consider his SLOW. BUT... he's got 32" tires, tool box, 10ft antenna, trailer hitch, etc...

Some of the slowest times I've seen posted on the stock 4.7L 5-spds are in the 15.50's to 15.6's at around 87-88mph range. Most are running 15.20's to 15.30's with some running high 14.9's or 15.0's, depending on rear gearing/driver skill, track location and prep, etc...

The guy was spraying on a truck with mods(at least exhaust)or had extenisive mods that the 4.7L guy could not distinguish.

PS One guy over there has a S/C'd 4.0, and is putting down 213RWHP and 273RWTQ.

As most of you know, the STOCK 4.7L 5-spd is putting down in the 200RWHP range and the same torque 270-275RWTQ. Granted the Ranger is obviously lighter, just using this as an example.

Chalk another win up to Sneaky Pete. Sleepers are nasty. You made his day. He pulled away feeling good about the $35 bucks he paid to have his bottle filled. Now slap a bottle on yours, and watch him cry.

I too used to have a 4.0 Ranger 5 speed reg. cab short box. That thing felt fast. Faster than a 4.7 Dak, probably not. The Ranger was very light a very hard to hook up. It didn't have LSD so it would easily spin the tire in the rain, and in the snow forget about it. I had to carry 360 lbs in the back just to keep it on the road in the winter.

I,VE HAD AN 02 FX4 SINCE IT WAS NEW AND HAVE BEAT IT FROM DAY 1 DUSTED RICE BURNER CARS AND OTHER MID SIZED PICKUPS. I EVEN MANAGED TO PULL MY BUDDIES Z 71 FROM THE SAME HOLE THAT I BLASTED THROUGH. MY SISTER HAD 2 RANGERS AND 86 AND A 92 AND BOTH OF THEM TRUCKS WOULD BUCK THE SNOW WITHOUT A WINPER. SHE WENT TO THE THE DAK FOR THE MORE ROOM. BUT CANT BE SURE THAT IT WILL GET HER OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AFTER A SNOWFALL. BUT SHE IS HAPPY THAT SHE DRIVES A V8. i DROVE IT AND WILL VOUCH THAT IT MAKES A LOT OF NOISE. I'LL WRITE AGAIN AFTER I DUST THAT ON AS WELL.

spinning tires in the rain/ and snow???
come on, my totally stock 4.7 Dak 45RFE auto will spin its one tire all day long on dry pavement.
Would not hook up with the stock 29" Good year all season tires and still won't hook up with the 30" Bridgestone Dueler AT REVO's either.

I have also smoked a few silly rice boys-- ya know those decals and wild paint jobs add at least 500 RWHP to their little 4 bangers-- She Bangs! She Bangs! :-)

i did meet my match against a Ford (gasp!) I think it was an FX-4, He backed off at about 75mph but we were dor handle to door handle.

Looks like Ford maybe making a new SPLASH. In the MAY/JUNE issue of Truck Trend there is a Ford Lightning Bolt prototype. It is a Ford Splash with the 5.4L Lightning engine under the hood. I don't think they will ever make it to production, but they did make a prototype and Truck Trend tested it.

I just bought a 04 CC 4wd 4.7 5spd auto, sport plus
I traded in an 02 sxt CC 4wd 4 spd auto 3.9

These two trucks are completely different. I did notice in the 02 the ball joints were making noise at about 9,000 miles, the sxt had 265/70/16 the wider option tire. I have 265's on the new truck also and I will say this truck seems much tighter in the suspension, I swear I always said the 02 sxt felt like the ride in my old 66 Polara 389. This new truck is much nicer all around, feels more like a truck and is better made than in previous years. The 4.7 seems really fast, just a magnaflow and modified intake. This truck reminds me of the good thing I remember about that 389 dodge, the power.
Isn't the 4.7 pretty much a Mercedes design?? The overhead cam v8??
One other thing, you think it is different if you buy a basic truck as opposed to and fully or almost fully loaded truck? What I mean is the care taken when putting the truck out. I've driven alot of trucks and it seems to me that after a few years the loaded trucks still seem tighter in the cab like they were better even though it is the same basic parts and design. Workmanship???
I also have a 2.9 v6 ford, That little fcker has 200,000 and the damn thing is perfect, that motor is unbelievable. Someone told me that 2.9 EFI was made in Germany for ford.
