Subject: Problem Installing 180 Thermostat IP: Logged
Message: Just took my truck in to mechanic to have new air intake, autolite 3923's, and 180 Robertshaw thermostat installed. I have a 2000 with 4.7v8 engine. When he tried to install the thermostat, he said that it would not fit; something about it was not notched correctly and would not align properly. The thermostat model number was a GT755-180, which is what everyone else has been referencing. Any ideas what he did or did not do?

Message: Yeah I had the same concern when I out mine in. I just took the stock white gasket deal and put it in anyways. It works fine. I was nervous though at first.

Message: Bill
That's the same part number on the thermostat I got from Speedtweaks. When I was talking to the mechanic I told him that it was the same part everyone else had been using. He is a very good mechanic and I have been using him for years.
Right now I'm wondering if I should go somewhere else and try to have it installed or just scrap the idea of installing it. Not sure how much difference the 180 stat would make.

Message: The "stock" stat does have a notch cut in it for the rubber gasket. I took the RobertShaw stat and cut a notch in it with my Dremel tool, then it work easier with the rubber gasket.
