Glasspacks are better than OEM. Not as good as performance mufflers such as FLowmaster, Gibson, etc. The louvers in glasspacks actually hurt the flow of gasses.

Hey i have a question if i have someone put this flowmaster muffler on that i bought and then have him put on glass packs would it be loud my old muffler had a hole in it so i though i should go with a flowmaster last longer i want to make it loud! so if i have hime put on th new muffler and glass packs should that be make it loud but i have all the same tail and other pipes that hooked up the old muffler should i put the old pipes on or have him put new ones on. This is going on a 83 ford pick up. i am only 17 i never heard of glass packs and i don't know what they look like PLEASE HELP I NEED HELP THANKS Matt Please email if you have any examples.

If you want it loud, then buy the Flowmaster 30 series.

Glasspakcs = a relatively quiet idle.
Gets louder on the gas and really starts to "snap" on higher RPM's. Glass packs CAN sound good and are loud as F**K if installed as such.
Flowmasters seem to have the loudest idle. Maintain an even loudness on the gas it seems but never really has the loud "peak" the glass packs do.
On an older truck like that, glass packs are very fitting. And you can get TWO for what one Flowmaster costs.
