That would suck if DC tuned it down.

Message: I have a 99 Dakota RT and 2 months ago bought a hemi 1500 Ram. I bracket race both of them. My truck has the 3.92 limited slip and 5 speed auto. At 85 degrees at night it runs 9.84 in the eighth at 71 mph. Only mod is a K and N air filter. Its rated at 345 hp at 5400 and 375 ft lbs at 4400. Part of the problem is in drive with od off{this is 3 gears just like the Dakota, OD is two more gears}, at 75 mph the engine is only turning 3300 rpms. When I race tomorrow I'm going to leave it in second gear and wind it out to utilize the horsepower it has. When I had it in second, it was turning 2500 rpms at 35 mph so I could take it all the way to 75 mph{if it will in the eighth} and still be a little under its max. hp rating. I'll keep you posted. No it will not outrun my Dakota but my Dakota has been modified for drag racing. The good thing about the Ram is it doesn't spin the tires off the line so it is perfect for bracket racing.

Message: If you want a fast truck go buy a lightning. The big bad hemi with 345hp...WOW... The lightning only has 35hp more at 380hp and absolutely romps over your dodges. Go buy and install your kenne bell blower and I'll just go buy a smaller pulley, chip, K&N intake, and exhaust and romp on that too. Oh, and dont even get me started on that over priced joke you all call the SRT10. Face it boys and girls, Dodge took the backseat to Ford a long time ago and they are gonna stay there.

Statistics show that the general population of the world is pretty stupid and will even spend money on things that kill them. Now what was that part about the best selling pickup?

Message: You know how lame that old "take the blower off the Lightning and see how it runs" excuse is? I have owned an R/T but lets face it Ford builds the most kick ass trucks out there. They had the balls to build the Lightning, blower or not, and have stayed on top while Dodge was happy with leaving the R/T unchanged for 5 years. Also, the supercharger is a part of the intake, it's designed as part of the engine, take that of and the truck won't run at all. That would be like asking you to take the fuel injection off your truck in a race with a carburated truck. Supercharging is a more efficent form of air managment just as fuel injection is of fuel management. Just get over it.

but for comparision, lets talk apple to apple,
ford-triton v8,f250 to hemi ram 2500,two trucks same class.now you can compare.
car & driver tv did show on the ford power stroke,
chevy duramax, hemi ram.the hemi ram out pulled the two diesels.[this was about two months back]
we have,nt seen what the hemi is made of yet,its still early in the game and the fat lady has,nt sing yet.THE OPENING BAND IS STILL ON THE STAGE.
i hope its not like in the 60s when FORD whined so much that nascar made mopar run restricter plates on the hemis so ford would have a chance.

Message: blueballs...The Ford is NOT rated at the rear wheels , everyone rates the HP at the crank because that is where it is the highest.
Do you really believe if it was rated at 380-390 at the tires and 400+ at the crank , that they would be using the LOWER of the 2 #s in their advertising..?
The Lighting is an awesome truck , no question about it , too bad it`s only offered in a reg. cab because I need more room than that with a family. The Harley edition is suppose to have the same s/c motor now , but I don`t think it`s nearly as quick , not to mention they`re 40K...ouch.
I drove a 2WD Hemi twice now at the dealer , and am still not that impressed with it , it hust doesn`t seem as fast as I thought it would , maybe it`s decieving because it`s so smooth.

Message: On the f150 forum 99s and 00s are around 320, most stock 01 and up Lightnings do around 350 at the wheels, the new Harleys are around 320 at the wheels according to the dyno results owners are putting up. As far as 40k for the truck, mine stickered at 38k fully loaded, I paid less than 33k, for a comparision, the Hemi express package I saw stickered for 37+k and had every thing including quad cab, leather, ground effects and Hemi. They had it marked up to 41k and wouldn't deal. By the way I have an 01 high 13 second R/T so don't knock me for owning a Ford. Here's my trucks.
'01 Dakota R/T Club Cab: SS grill, Nitto 450's, Clear Corners, Chrome 5.9 R/T emblems, Aluminum dash accents, TopDeck hard bed cover, Aluminum R/T pedals, M-1 intake(w/turtle), Mopar cold air, F&B Trottle Body, Gibson Headers, B&G custom computer program, Dual out spintech exhaust, Mopar 2400 Stall Converter, Level Ten Shift Kit, Royal Purple synthetics,MSD Wires, Accel coil & rotor. Ran 15.0 when stock(only had 1200 miles) now best time in Phoenix is: 13.97 @ 98mph
'02 Harley Davidson Supercrew, Supercharged 5.4, Diablo chip, 10 lbs of boost, cold air box with K&N filter. Ran 14.4 when stock, now best time is: 13.3 in Phoenix.

Message: Joey don't forget about torque, also 2 engines, one n/a and one supercharged, can have the same hp output but the supercharged one will reach that peak sooner because it is under boost. It just gets there faster. That is why the Harley Ford will always stomp a Hemi quad cab and Silverado with 5 less hp than both of them, and the Harley only has 3.73s in the rear, the Dodge (I've seen) has 3.90s and the Silverado SS has 4.10s. I also have seen Harles at 35k and lower, the dealers around hear mark up the Rams like they are gold. The simple fact is that Ford sells for volume and has the ability to make enough to sell at volume, Dodge is limited in it's production ability so dealers have to make money on the few Rams (few when compared to Ford)they have to sell. That is why they won't deal as low as Ford. Around here (Cal) Dodge Hemis fully loaded are priced the highest of the 3 americans.
