Message: 3.9 is a good choice if your looking for lower insurance rates and less fuel consumption to, also helps not getting 4wd, that both helps mpg and insurance rates. I went with that option for similar reasons made it so i could afford full coverage going from a fulltime 4wd vehical with a v8 to a v6 with 2wd.

Message: Here are some good engine swaps
1.3L for a LS-1 in a 2nd/3rd Gen RX-7
4 cyl for LS-1 in a Fiero
4.3 for 5.7 in S-10's
5.0L for 7.4L in G-body grocery getters
Any dak w/ Viper V-10 (insane swap)
(Plus thousands more out there)
But the most interesting one I've seen is a 81-82ish Chevy Chevette (yes Chevette), from the puny 4 cyl to a Blown 383 w/ 100 shot. It's riding around in southern New Jersey, yellow in color, and not hard to miss. He had to custom fab the front end to fit the engine. Has a full roll cage, 9" rear, and drag radials. I don't know what he posts 1/4 wise, but I can imagine it is fairly fast.
