Good news for the 4.7L people. Well it's not the 270hp HO. But the new 2002 Ram will have a 240hp 300tq version. Up 10hp from this year. But here's the good part. That power is up 400 rpms too! 5200@240hp 4000@300tq. You might see that version in the 2002 Dakota. Just passing on the info. I still love my 5.9L :) and wouldn't trade it for a 4.7L.

How's that good for me? I'm still stuck with 230hp plus whatever little my jba headers gave me, and I have 3 cats on my 2001!

It's my guess that the engine had that much power all along. They just changed the rating to reflect it's actual numbers.

Well,
I guess it's for anyone wanting a new Dak and must have the new 4.7L or find out what part made the the 2002 4.7L better and improve that on your 2001.

Mine had 235 stock. Only 1 cat. The power coming in at the higher rpm's isnt good at all for 4x4 guys. We need the power as low in the band as possible. Dont want ot have torex the engine that high to reach good torque. Thats 1 thing I love about my 4.7. Torque comes on really strong at low rpm. 300 Ft lbs at 3200 RPM. As for 2x4 street trucks, I guess the power coming in at higher rpm is a good thing. Should give it a little more top end.
