Message: Are there any performance mufflers out there that won't make
a 3.9L V-6 sound like crap as the RPM'S raise
before it shifts?
I've tried Ravin - totally sucked , I tried
Dynomax super turbo - not bad in the low RPM'S
around 1200 - 1900 rpm's but when it shifts
and the rpm's rise it "sounds" like a hole or
something in the manifolds- crappy.
I realize it's not going to sound like a standard
transmission shifting or a V8, but there must be something
out there that sounds good when an Atuomatic shifts! ANYONE have a 3.9L AUTOMATIC with a
performance muffler that they like the way it sounds? Or what Mods could I do to improve the
shift points ,(ie..faster), or sound quality.
I'm looking for a muscle sound without scaring
everyone off the streets.
any help would really be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Message: I have a melotone muffler on there, it is a little louder than I wanted but it sounds pretty good. It is designed basically like the flowmaster. Alot of people ask me what size motor I have, alot of ranger and s10 guys dont believe a v6 can sound like that:) hope that helps.

Message: I had never heard of it before i went to the muffler shop. It sounds pretty good for a v6 it is loud though. I wouldnt go back to the stock muffler it is very restrictive try a flowmaster delta series they are supposed to be quiet.

Message: I have a 3.9L V6 engine and i have the ravin'. I like it because it gives that racing sound, yes, i sorta agree it sounds kinda like a honda accord with a hole in his muffler. But, Ravin' is louder and adds mpg ang power to my engine....so there.

Message: I have a 5.2 litre Dakota, with dual exhaust. The place I usually go for exhaust work is Budget Brake and Muffler, and they recommend this Flowpro muffler for performance and a mellow sound. I was wondering if anyone has heard of or has this muffler, as I'm trying to decide if I should go with it or a Flowmaster Delta Flow 50 series... Thanks in advance for anything anyone can tell me...

Message: Flowmaster 40 series, sounds awesome.
BTW, the stupid PCM retards your ignition timing as it shifts, thus that funky sound right where you'd otherwise feel the jerk they removed (by the ignition retard). It's the loss of power and I hate that they did that shiit! Both my Dodge Dak and our Chrysler sedan do that. I wish we could change that in the PCM to get that old school shift kit feel and a better sound as well.

Message: Hey Contours...
There is absolutely NO WAY, I repeat NO WAY that a muffler can increase your fuel economy by 25% over stock!! I use turbo chargers as mufflers, at 1 bar they increas the "efficiency" of the motor by 100% and rarely return a 25% increase in fuel economy!
Your claim is a physical impossibility short of using a 1 1/4" Honda muffler on a V8 test vehicle then replacing it with a 3" muffler of your design... but a manufacturer wouldn't do such a thing... WOULD THEY?????
