Message: One of My buddies works for Arrington Racing here in martinsville!! I have recently been talking to my buddy and he says that he can get a set of aluminum headers for a 318 for free no prob. but, he also knows somebody that could port and polish my stock ones. what would would be the best way to go here. I don't really think the aluminium ones would work all that great b/c they are made for Highly tuned engines so I was thinking of getting that guy jus to port and polish the stock ones!!! Any help would be greatly appreciatted

Message: Porting and polishing your factory manifolds will work just fine. They are alot more durable then tubular headers and will not release as much heat into the engine compartment as headers. If you ever decide to run turbo chargers cast factory evhaust manifolds take the heat better. It is true that most headers will out flow the factory manifolds but porting and polishing goes a long way to improveing things. I realy like extrude honeing after porting. It creates a very uniform and highly polished surface. I am working on designing a turbo setup for my 2001 Dak and I am trying to use as many stock componets as possable. So I am porting my factory exh. manifolds and then I am sending them out for extrude honeing. I hope this works out well for you. I realy wish more places would cast steel tubular headers. I have considered designing a set of tubular cast steel headers for the turbo setup but I do not know anyone that will cast them. If anyone knows anyone that can do this please let me know!!!!! I would like to be able to mount one T3/T4 hybrid turbo on each side of engine. up front and close to hood line. I remember back in the late sixty's that there was a kit for the 318 and 340. You fliped your exh. manifolds upsidedown and reversed the them and added a turbo adapter plate to each one and they dumbed into you carb with a two very short pipes. It was super simple and it kept the turbos in a location that was easy to work on.

Message: Mopar Muscle one roported you could use a 93 5.2 magnum manifold on a 5.9. They had a bigger inside diameter and flow better then the 94 and later manifolds. Header companies at the time had a hard time getting something that could outperform the stock manifolds that made them worth the trouble and $300+ price. the Y pipe would have to be modified to match the greater diameter as well, and I don't know if otherwise would be a simple bolt on. You could extrude this setup, along with the intake then do a 400" stoker and tell everybody it's all stock. How come nobody does sleepers anymore?

Message: I think that the lack of rear wheel drive cars that are affordable and in decent shape has greatly curtailed the sleeper. I am currently looking for something that I can build up and is not a traditional hot rod or sports car. I am looking for a decent Caprice or Road Master. I would even do an Eastate Wagon if the price is right.
