Subject: REAR DIFFERENTIAL IP: Logged
Message: GETTING READY TO GO WITH SYNT IN REAR DIFF GOING TO SIPHON IT OUT AND REFILL W / REDLINE 75/90W -FRICTION MODIFIER FOR L/S DIFF - NOW THE QUESTION- THE RUBBER REFILL PLUG ON THE DIFF - IS THAT IT ? IS THERE A METAL PLUG BEHIND IT ? DO I JUST PULL IT OUT ? ITS A 99 4X4 W/5.2

Message: Nope, thats it. I siphoned mine out too it was alot easier than redoing the silicon. On the down side you can't check rear end to see if there is any metal shavings/casting particles in the rear.

Message: many diffs and trannys have a MAGNET within to safely remove all ferrus shavings from the oil.
(The brass particles of the synchronizers in a manual tranny and LSD in a diff are NON ferrus so they float around freely)

Message: so you just pull off the rubber fill plug ? or does it need to be replaced ?
