Message: Today I was installing My new FIPK, and when doing so I noticed that on my throttle body it said HOLLEY!!! I bought it used and the guy had said nothing about putting a throttle body on the engine!!! So I was wondering if all 5.2's come with a HOLLEY throtle body??? I really hope not!!! B/c I can barely beat a 4.3 s 10 w/ 3.73's and an intake!!!

Holley makes the factory TB's for Dodge...some of the newer models don't have the stamping on them but they're still a factory spec Holley build TB.
They're nothing wrong with them physically...the design is pretty good but lacks in the performance department. (You can thank Dodge for that one...not Holley.) Cleaning up the bores and a few other simple modifications can really wake up the factory throttle body.

Message: Hi Bernd,
I also got a used TB that says Holley, supposedly from a 97' Dodge (5.2?), w/ casting # 12R15041B.
I installed it into my 01' 3.9L V6. I've reset the PCM and driven the truck for 300+ miles. The truck drives DIFFERENTLY now, but it seems that the get-up-and-go (0-25 mph) range is less peppy. Without before/after dyno runs, it is not clear to me how the torque/power curves have changed.
The throttle plate is clearly larger than that of the stock TB.
I had the (naive ?) assumption that larger throttle = more airflow = more power.
Please give me more insight.
Thanks,
01 QC, 3.9L V6, 4x4, 3.92 LSD, 5 spd
180 T-stat, autolite 3923 plugs; MSD 6A & 8680; Mech fan removed. V8 throttle body.
(stock airbox)
/Andy
