Message: wow... ok.. ill focus on the subject of my original post... yes, 1998 dakota 5.2, with i believe the 44re auto tranny (im a noob, im sorry).... no check engine light, new plugs, rotor and cap, new air filter, oil change and lube, 230k miles... original tranny... after further inspection and idea swapping, im leaning toward a tranny issue.. the "bog" is more of a "power loss with vibration," and the rpm's jump UP a little bit (50-100 rpm), only while pressing accelerator, so i was guessing a tranny slip... i did a tranny pan drop and filter replacement, which seemed to relieve the symptoms some, but not completely (truck seems to coast better when letting off accelerator, and i swear gas mileage has improved)). fluid was not burnt. it had some metal residue in it, but a more experienced friend said it was nothing abnormal. the magnet also had some metal on it, but nothing large enough to cause concern.... it only slips in 3rd or 4th between 50-60 mph, and less often after trans service. truck might have original cat on her... could that cause what im experiencing? TPS? Thanks a lot for your guys' input!
