Message: hey all, need some help.
I have a '01 2wd with the 3.9L. Im trying to beef it up some but im not sure how the computer will react to the mods. im more of a tune by screw driver type on non-computer cars. i did some minor mods already like msd box, bigger coil, bigger plug wire, headers, CAI. That all gave me some power and fuel milage but its time to step it up. i have a supercharger that i want to put on but probably only put 6 lbs or so to it. also thinking about bigger injectors and cam. Can i just put this all in and the motor will run fine or do i have to get the computer re programmed or something? thanks

Message: Dude definetly don't waste the time on the v6 3.9 I drive one and yes it can burn rubber and there lots of fun but no where near the 5.9L also its easier to tune the 5.9 cause they are less computer-tech. Just my input.

Message: For most modifications , including headers
the computer can sense and adjust accordingly
within about 100 miles of driving .
The 'supercharger' may well be a bit of a challenge however as it will affect the MAP
sensor reading .
Will probably need a 'Performance' chip
and /or new computer .

Message: gears, if you run a stock tire diameter go with a 4.10 or 4.56. best mod I ever did. 70mph with 4.10 resulted in 2500 rpm with a stock tire. The computer will adjust the speedometer. No programming needed. JBA headers did nothing for mine. 1.7 roller rockers from Crower was the next best.
With the supercharger you will need bigger injectors from ford motor sport and will likely need a re-flash done to the ecm. The cam would have to be a custom grind.

Message: If you can afford to put a SC on then I say go for it. You will have to install at least 24lb injectors (bigger is better here, leanout is very damaging) and its a real good idea to install an ignition retard controller. I have seen V6 Daks with SC's spank mildly modded V8 cars and trucks.
