Subject: 5.9 engine harness info IP: Logged
Message: I'm installing a 5.9 out of a 96 Ram into a 95 rc/sb. Basics I know ( oil pan, flywheel, mounts, etc) and the harness for the most part is a direct change out but in my 95 at the engine to body connectors there are only 2 : flat 10 pin and grey sq. The 5.9 has 3 main connectors on it: flat, gray sq and black sq. Has the Ram cpu. Any info on this and any other connection problems i might hit? Ram was an auto Im staying stick (NV3500).

Message: Sounds like the 5.9 ( 96 ) is an OBD11 computer
while your 95 was OBD1 , You will have to figure out which way you want to go , but the OBD11 also had an O2 sensor after the cat as well as the one in front .
You could use a 'sim' simulator for that sensor , if you can figure out which wires it was connected to .
Might be easier to convert the engine back to OBD1 - should be simply hook up the wires to the
sensors, etc.

Message: Thanks, yeh i looked at it more today, think ill just find a 95 cpu, intake and passenger side exhaust and keep it stock looking instead of the headaches to reconfigure to the obd2. Any one need a obd2 wire harness and computer
