Do a lot of studying, first of all.

And to make life easier:
http://www.summitracing.com/search/Make/DODGE/Engine-Size/5-9L-360/Engine-Family/Mopar-small-block-LA/Department/Engines-Components/Section/Engine-Kits-Rotating-Assemblies/Part-Type/Engine-Rotating-Kits/Balanced/Yes/?Ns=Rank|Asc

The link above is for Balanced Rotating Kits from Summit. Albeit, SCAT and Eagle, but eh.

If you go with the standard 3.58" stroke, it's an easy job. However, if you go with the 4" stroke, there's some work that needs done on the block prior to assembly to make room for the connecting rods and the crank itself. Not MUCH work, at least not by my definition, but I like getting my hands dirty and inhaling metal filings.

If you're not that familiar with, or don't feel confident enough to, working the block, take it to a machine shop so they can bore and hone your cylinder walls, notch the grooves for the 4" stroke, and press-fit your pistons to the connecting rods. Probably some other work to do. But if you're good enough, and have the proper tools, you can do it all in your garage.

Also, like mentioned, need a new transmission. A518, hydraulic for your year/model, not the newer electrics. Also, properly balance the Torque Converter, or get a balanced flexplate from B&M.

I was just thinking. A 360 isn't really badass. Some extra power over the 318, but eh.

Now a 360 turned 408 (or even 410), that's a bit badass.

Even better, make it a 406 (4.02" bore x 4" stroke), so the Liters equals 6.66L. Then laugh manically as you ram your truck - with a titanium grille guard, don't wanna damage you're ride - into unsuspecting Holier Than Thou religious people.

Hmm... I like that idea. Looks like I've got a new project. Funnily enough, even after all the extra performance stuff going into the engine, the titanium grille guard will probably still cost a ton more. Could just use a nice sturdy plow, instead.
