Subject: Lightning what? IP: Logged
Message: I pulled up to a silver lightning on my way home from work and sai dwhat the hell lets see what happens. I looked over and he already new by the way my truck purred from the headers and catback it was on. We both punched at the light and we were side by side. We hit about 90 and we were still side by side. I glanced over and he was just smiling. We finally hit about 115 and we both kinda just let off of it even though he may have bee about a 1/4 truck length in front of me. " MAYBE".... I feel pretty good about it because This weekend the rest of my things get done. I hope I see him again.

Message: Just curious , what year was the Lightning? What do you have in your Dakota? What mods do you have?I WANT to believe this, tell me more! I have lined up on 2 different lightnings a 1999 and a 2001 in my 2000 R/T and I hung with both of them even until about 65mph,then they both just pulled away.

Message: Beat a 2k lightning last night at the track easily. I think he was running around 14.5. He said the new ones are running high 13's, but anything under 2k1 are running mid 14's or higher. Also got me a 99GT and a 2k Dak R/T. Sorry guys, that R/T really wanted to run me for some reason ;). It ran a whopping 16.1 and the GT ran a 14.4.

Message: Are you sure it was a new Lighting or a older one.The older model had around 245hp but the 99 and on have 360 to 380hp and run zero to 60 in 5.2sec.I like Dak's don't get me wrong but crunch the numbers I would have to say it was an older model because the 2001 is running 13.5 1/4 at about 100mph.So it seems hard to beleive but I guess if you had the wright mods anything is possible.Just curious!!

Message: Yea, you would probably beat a '93 Lightning. But without you having some extensive mods you wouldnt have a prayer against the genII's.

Message: Well Gentlemen whom are curious. It was was brand new with the dealer plates on it. As far as mods go Just say I have plenty enough $$$ dumped into my 98' Dodge Dakota RC, and I run on radials a measily 13.72. As far as the lightning is concerned I know the power it has and I know how much it weighs also. I have not seen one new one run in the 13's stock yet even though every magazine says 13.95 stock all day long. That is a bunch of bull-shet. Well, sorry to disappoint you guys, but the fact is the Lightning is pretty bad a$$ truck for $34,000 minus warranty and taxes and license, so I guess probably $40,000 after it's all said and done. I spent $17,500 on my dakota with 2 miles on ita a dealership in 1998. I have dumped in it around $3500 in it. No not a S/C either, and she will flat out get down the road.

Message: I've seen 2 2001 Lightning Timeslips and they were 13.5 and 13.3. The 2001 is underated at the crank. It should have around 408 horsepower considering it slammed down 340 at the wheels. It also has as much rear wheel torque as a Viper. If you beat a 2001 then props to you. If your only running 13.7 which is very good on a N/A motor I just don't see how you took down a 2001. You could definitly hang with 99's and 00's. The 99's did run around 14.0, with some getting 13.8 and some hitting 14.2. Ford sort of got some of the bugs out in 2000 and they pulled a 13.62 with the 00. But most were in the 13.7-13.8 range. But Hey, if you beat a 01 then you beat an 01.

Message: I did not say I beat him. I said we were side by side from start to where we let off. I do know is darn fast jsut because my truck is a screamer. I do have to say watch out for these 4.6 Stangs that have been supercharged. I think he had more, because last night at about 6:30, I pulled up to a green one and he sounded really good. He took off and I had no chance of catching this guy. You could here him winding it out. He was a lot faster than that lightning. Just for this reason I am saving my cash and hopefully by the end of the year I'll have my S/C. Nice talking with you guys.
Out!
