so recently i put on a new tb(about 5miles with it on) after i reset the pcm, and i was doing some work in the engine bay and just to be safe i undid the neg cable, havent driven in about a week so the pcm reset itself

my question is, if everytime i put sumtin big and new on, not simple little things, i need to reset my pcm, will i have to wait another 200miles tops before im back at top preformance?

lets say i put on a tb, drive 200miles, and everythings at peak preformance, then i put on a new cam, rockers, and CAI then reset the comp, will i then have the same preformance that i did once the tb reached the 200miles,then need another 200 for the addition power from the new additions or will it read everything as stock settings again like before i put on the tb, and need to drive another 200miles all again? not sure if im being clear or not, kinda hard to describe what im getting at and i know it doesnt always take 200miles, im just trying to get the basic idea across

the more mods you add, i.e. cam, headers, etc. the longer it will take for the PCM to adjust to the mods. personally, i don't see why you would need to reset the pcm because it will see the mods as soon as you add them anyway and it should take less time to learn them. but, what do i know?

On my 1994 model, the computer would take up to 200-300 miles to properly adjust. But on your truck an 2001, the computer operates at a much faster rate. If I am not mistaken, it takes only about 5 minutes for the adjustments to be made. Check around. I know it is much faster than the computer in my truck. On your truck, it is not really necessary to rest the computer every time. Much more advanced. It was thought by some that and it may be true that the truck would relearn faster after mods than to simply drive it. It was thought that the computer would have to first recognize that changes had been made and then start compensating for those changes. As opposed to simply starting with a clean slate by resetting the computer which was supposed to speed up the process.

Just push the f-ing reset button, moron. Mommy and Daddy are not going to buy you all of that stuff. Anyway you could have found out the answer to your question by searching instead of bother everyone here. Go back to 6th grade and leave the working people alone.
