Subject: A-500 Shift kit IP: Logged
Message: I have an A-500 in my '98 Sport with a 5.2 and I was wondering about a shift kit. I have seen an electronic one that plugs into the wiring harness but I can't find it anymore.
I was told that the A-500 and A-518 have electronic valve bodies.
Any truth to this?

Message: I got 2 words for you : TRANS GO. Look them up. No plug in stuff. Just good old bolt on stuff for the valve body. Had mine in my '99 for 2 years now and love it.

Message: I believe they are sold by Jegs or Summit. I did a search on the net and got their phone #. I talked to an engineer before ordering mine. I can't tell you about installation because my son did it for me, but the engineer explained to us which hole to drill out more than the instructions said to get the 1-2 shift firmer. On the '99s the 1-2 shift is terrible and now mine is tollerable.

Message: BMac I missed a previous post when I asked you (long trip and I forgot the title of the first post), how do you like the A-500? I've pretty much blown up my 97's. It took 3 cases of tranny oil to remove the water I got into it. Waist deep creek bed (looked shallow) vs my 4x4...
Any recommendations?
Rather spend $2,200 on the A-500 and not $2,400 on remanufactured Mopar.
