Message: I talked with Dodge back when I first got my 2001 Mopar Perf catalog because they had the PCM listed. 3 diff dealers ran the part number and all three said the same thing. The pcm for the 2000 4x4 4.7 had been discontinued with no indication of whether it would be brought back or not. May have been making too much power is the guess a couple of dealer parts guys and my self came up with. Who knows.

Message: Yep, EPA rulings, believe some tesing occurred and they didn't pass muster.
Similar to the addition of two more cats for the 2001 4.7 to meet Federal emission standards.
Do you really think the 2001 4.7 lost 5HP due to this, or did DC re-tweak the 4.7 back to 2000 235HP ratings?
Thoughts/rumors on how much HP the 2002 4.7 will have/be rated at?
HP wars are gonna start again, look at the H.O. 4.7 and the new midsize truck from Chevy, I think they project 270-285HP there.

Message: Mace, I'm pretty sure its the cats because a lot of 2000's have the 3 cats as well and they are rated at 230 hp where as the 2000's like mine with only 1 cat are rated at 235 hp. The new 4.7HO is suppose to be making 270 hp.
