Message: i dont quite understand how an intake in a chrysler motor can make it sound like a chev...different firing orders, stroke and bore...although the best thing to do is get a k&n 14" filter assembley and slap it on top of the throttle body and then get the xstream top

Message: I think Josh is just talking about the noise of the intake, I'll bet someone flipped the air filter covers on the motors he's thinking of. You're obviously not familiar with the 4.7's side draft TB set up - there's no filter for it like you describe; another drawback for your suggestion is that it would draw hot underhood air - rather than the denser cold air which is desirable.

Message: Because of the bend in the lid, when you flipped it it would expose the entire filter element. About the only thing close to cold air then were cars with scoops or cowl induction.

Message: The only other mod done to my truck at that time was a flowmaster cat back. I can tell you that by the seat of my pants and the cost the intake kit was the best mod done so far. They advertise a 15-20 hp gain so i dont think the exhaust made too much of a difference but i'm sure it helped a little.

Message: Looks like someone claiming gains based on hope and what they spent once again.
Kota Kid - I'll bet you can't come up with a link to that claim relating specifically to a mopar 4.7. Usually they claim something like "up to 15 - 20 hp" based on the most gain they got on some choked up motor design. Interesting to note you claimed a chassis dyno in your first post; then admitted to "seat of the pants" in a later post !

Message: The chassis dyno was the one at my tech school the results used to be posted on their website which is www.auto.edu I think it was posted under the school of high performance's section but that dyno run was over 2yrs ago not sure if that section is even still on that site as for the gains i reported i did not have a baseline so i used the baseline numbers reported by KRC performance listed on their site under the 4.7L page at 171Hp and 235ft/lbs at the wheels on the chassis dyno at my school the numbers were 190hp and 240 ft/lbs i also had the exhaust at that time too as i said dont know how much that helped and the seat of my pants gains i noted were just to give the guy an idea of what to expect as i said for the bang for the buck i think it is definately the best thing i have done so far
airaid cold air kit
70mm throttle body (KRC)
gibson shorties
full header back exhaust from GS Motorsports
powertrax no slip locker
4.56 gears (helped top end but hurt off the line no slicks yet)
and super chips tuner

Message: You can't accurately compare results from dyno to dyno - most will read somewhat differently.
You can't accurately compare results from engine to engine - not every engine mopar builds will have the exact same output as what it is rated.
You can't accurately compare results under different atmospheric conditions and different temperatures either.
Glad to see you're learning about vehicles, with this new info, you can learn to make more valid comparisons. The mods you say you have now should make some decent gains !

Message: Good points
and yes the truck is much faster than stock she ran a 14.21@ 96mph with the stock 3.55 gears at the world cup finals (imports vs domestics) held at Maryland Int Raceway earlier this month i've only had the gears in a couple of weeks and found out really quick i need slicks now and better traction bars as traction is an issue now more so than it was and wheel hop has gotten worse
