i have heard of people strokeing their 360 in the R/T's to 408 cid (or something close to this). is there a kit like this for the 318? will this pass smog in california, and how reliable is this for a daily driver?

Anything is possible...as for passing emissions in CA, if you retain all the factory emissions equipment (or use CARB Approved aftermarket accessories), you should be fine even with a slightly hotter cam. Keeping the cats intact of course.

Visually, they can't tell the difference.

are the bores in the 318 smaller than the 360? or is the crank just larger? thanks

the 318 has a 3.91 in bore with a 3.31 in stroke and a 6.31 in rod a 360 has a 4 in bore same rod length bigger mains on the crank same size rods journal as the 318 and i believe the same stroke also but dont quote me on this
