Subject: Axle hop! IP: Logged
Message: I have a 01 durango slt 4x4 with the 4.7. I installed a powertrax no slip diff, and I love it. The only thing is if I do a burnout in straight line I get some bad axle hop. It dose not do it if I do a brakestand burnout. Is there any easy why to calm down the axle hop? Thanks

Message: Axle hop is caused by spring wrap. There are many devices manufactured to reduce or even eliminate it.
I made some traction bars for mine that go from rear axle spring plate to the frame. Or you can get what people call a slap-stick, which is a kind of traction bar. And if you had a 4-link rear....

Message: DG,
Want to eliminate it, for under $30?
I learned this trick, on this forum.
Go to any after market Auto Parts, get a 'helper spring, for leaf spring suspensions.
Forget what the instructions say. Mount it Forward of the axle, not after. They usually have 3 settings while installing, any will do.
I figured what did I have to loose for $19.95?
Sure as Sh%t, it works! It does bump and grind some when the plastic pads wear off the leaf. But it quiets down.
Brakestand burnout? Oh, you must have an auto tranny lol.

Message: If you replaced your leaf springs with railroad rail sections, you would have:
1. No more spring wrap (those things don't bend).
2. Awesome traction (no more annoying rear wheel spin).
3, Most of the vehicle's weight over the rear wheels.
What have you got to lose, except your brakes.
