Subject: ABS TROUBLE I NEED HELP IP: Logged
Message: The ABS and BRAKE light came on in my truck the other day. When I step on the brake to stop the speedometer stops working and falls to zero while I'm still moving. Can anybody help me. I checked all the brake parts and all is fine. I'm lost, I don't have a clue where to start looking to fix this. It's like the speedometer and the ABS are on the same wire line and there must be a bad sensor. HELP--HELP

Message: sounds like a bad ground problem, maybe from a corroded ground wire or loose connection on a harness.

Message: I had the same problem on my 98 5.2 4x4. i replaced the abs speed sensor in the rear differental and all is well. its about $50.00 from the dealer and only takes about 15 min. to change. its easy to find, look for the only wires going to the diff. (top of diff.) it has a bracket holding it in along with the rear brake lines. the sensor just pops in (might need a little help from a flat tip screwdrver) after removing the bracket. read more on this site this is where i found the answer. hope this helps

Message: had the same problem - deff start with the rear spead sensor - Help mine out for awhile but eventually the lights came back on. I trouble shot the hell out of it but nothing, not even a code was throw. I finaly needed a inspection sticker so brought it to the dealership to have the diagnos - everything was fine, they just needed to reset the lights (wont go off with a PFM reset/ removal of ground, etc) Since then its all been good...

Message: Thanks guy's I'll have time today to check it out. Hope this is the trouble, because I'm not looking forward to running down every wire in the truck to get it fixed. I'll check in latter to let you know if this did the trick.
