Message: What are some suggestions for spark plugs for the 4.7? I heard 4.7's dont like platinum plug's, is this true? I also heard iridium plugs work great, is this also true? Thanks.

Message: Bosch Platinum 4418 +4's work perfect in my 2001 4.7 with 148k to date. Smoother idle than the stock Champions.

Message: I tried the Autolites first. Saw no improvement over the stock Champions at all. Also they only lasted about 10,000 miles before they were toast and starting to misfire. Next I installed Bosch platinum plus 2. They work great. Idle smoother and have a little more power and get a little better gas mileage. Sorry don't remember the number but I got them at Wally world and they have the puter there to look them up.

Message: I put in the $3 apiece platinum plugs from NGK, p/n 7100, at 30k. Mileage appears to be up a bit. Truck runs fine.

Message: The autolites 3923, looked like brand new, after I changed them after ~70,000miles. Ran just like the bosch platinums I put in!

Message: The Autolite 3923 is the one heat range lower than stock for the 318 only. 4.7's stock Autolite # is 5224 don't know what one range cooler for those are.

Message: Try the Champion Truck Plug series. The engine was designed to run on Champion plugs so I'd stick with it. I've run Autolites in mine before and even though they wore well the truck was prone to detonation.
