ok so i have a 2003 SXT 4x4. reg. cab short bed. with the 3.9 my buddy has a 1997 SLT ext. cab shortbed with the 5.2. when we race what terrains do i have an advantage. ii think we both have the same trannys but i need to kno where i can get him at cause its makin me mad cause he just slowly pulls away. not bad but enough.

I don't believe you have an advantage anywhere; not sure why you'd think you might. The 3.9 is basically 3/4 of a 5.2, same design but 2 less cylinders.

his is a tougher 44re. race him in the dirt and if he is like most kids he will gun it digging two nice holes as you zoom ahead. or do along race where there isn't a gas station for the next 450miles and you will win cause he'll run out of gas.
