 Subject: Hurst shifter

I am wanting to put a hurst shifter into my 4.7-5spd 01 dak. hurst only lists up to 2000. Will it fit an 01 and is it a good shifter? Somebody must have tryed this before. What changed between 2000 and 2001 and can it be overcome?

Yes you can use the hurst shifter on your dak however you have two problems. First off the shifter mount changed slighty so you will have to make a .2 5 inch spacer to allow the ball to move without binding. Also the front dash was redesigned so the hurst shifter hits when going into gear. Its a good excuse to do a body lift however you could also just heat up the hurst shift stick and bend it slightly or make another adapter to change the angle at which the stick bolts to the base.
