Subject: Exhaust Cutout Installed!!!! IP: Logged
Message: Post #1
After two months of trying to find a welder, I decided to just do it myself. I used an oxy/mapp torch and brazed it the best I could, then I used some "thermometal" sealer to patch up the leaks. It's curing right now, but I started it up with it open in my garage, and WOW! It's behind the cat, so it's a very low, but LOUD smooth sound.
Results will be posted tomorrow morning.
Took it out for a spin tonight, and all I can say is "WOW!"
It sounds sooo good outside. I almost burned myself when taking the cap off, I drove it from my house to a parking lot before opening it up. The plate wasn't the problem. It was the bolts and wingnuts that almost burned my hands. But it was worth the sound. I drove with it all the way home with the cutout open, because I found out it's only "loud" when I give it some gas to get moving. If I let up on the gas, the sound almost disappears.
It's good. Very good.
I like it a lot!
Best mod yet. Hands down.
