Just get a replacement muffler , even a Maremont
replacement is less restrictive than Chysler stock, Go Hi-perf if you have the money to throw at it..

Not worth the the fine if you get caught I think the fine runs at about 5000 dollars becasue of tree hugging wimps.

What are you talking about? Mufflers don't effect emissions, just sound. Removing the cat is a different story.

Well i just took the muffler off and the truck is not loud! I live in a small town in south texas where everyone runs straight pipes on Cummings and big V8 engines. I want it louder! I would put another muffler on but how will that make it louder. So it looks like the Short Bus award goes to cheap-bast@rd!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to be loud like the big boys you need to install a decent size engine.
Btw, being loud isn't about Performance, it's about making noise. It's probably a subject more suited to the General Board.

I have a 98 regular cab with a 318, and i have the cat with no mufflers. There still is a sensor before and after the cat. and a duals after the cat with chrome tips.
Shane, without the muffler, my truck was not really loud, but with the tips there is a low rumble. It is more quite on the highway because of no interior resonance due to a 'flowmaster...'

I have a 97' with the 318. I cut the muffler off YEARS ago. It was loud and mean sounding. Then I put on a glasspack and it was decent but no the same. Then I put on shorty headers and cut the glasspack back off. It sounds great now. Most people won't even think about running me just from the sound...

i have a 99 4x4 slt with the 318. Right after i got it, i cut off the stock muffler and put on a flowmaster super 40 with a turndown, then i took off the super 40 and ran with just a cat...not much louder idling, but at 55 that thing roared. i put the super 40 back on then got a high flow cat. then i took the super 40 back off to see what it sounded like, then, loud and obnoxious, i liked it but i put the muffler back on cause the tone was not one i liked with just a high flow cat some tubing then a turndown.

The loudest vehicle near my house is a riced-up Civic with a spoiler and a 4" fart can. And that's all it is - loud.
Come to MA with your exhaust cut off, and I'll blow your doors off with my stock 92 Daytona 2.5L TBI with 268K miles on it.

So,I live in san diego. And i had to work near the border. My
friend owns a 90 something toyota pickup with some V6 in it. But
anyways. his caatylatic converter got stolen. And we didn't find
out until he started his truck. And OMG! that thing was really loud.
It was funny when i followed him home on the freeway, lol.
