Message: has anyone done the tps mod to there truck and does it really work because to me it makes no sense seeing that your only changing how you mount the sensor back in.

Message: I did the TPS mod. Mine worked (and pretty dang well I might add) for maybe a month and then started getting funky. I modded the stock sensor that only had 30k miles on it. One day the RPMS jumped to 2k at crankup and then idled at 1k. Only way I could get it to stop was to reset the PCM. Fixed it for a few miles, then it started doing it again. Ended up just replacing the sensor and not modding it. Unless you are having throttle issues, I wouldn't mess with the TPS. It is touchy.

Message: I did this mod about a month ago. I have the 05' Dakota 4.7L.
Works alright, I dont have to push the go pedal to the floor to make it downshift anymore. So the truck is a little more responsive.
I havent had any issues with it. Its only a slight tweak, if the engine is surging for no reason I would suspect it being a bad TPS and not because of the mod.

Message: Mod caused the TPS to go out. TPS was working fine before the mod, just wanted a little bit more response out of the throttle. A TPS going out at 30k miles is just fishy in itself. Just the luck of the draw I guess. Some TPS units are a bit more reliable when pumped up to .70vDC (wanted to give some leeway for voltage variations) and some are not. This, however, doesn't mean I won't try it again. I'll just do it with a $30 Sorenson (sp?) rather than the $50 Wess I have in there now. LOL

Message: "it makes no sense seeing that your only changing how you mount the sensor back in." No, you're raising the signal voltage to the computer at idle, and therefore compressing the voltage range. This fools the computer into thinking you are off idle when at idle, and giving more gas at lower speeds, making it more responsive.

Message: After installing my F&B TB, I had an odd problem of the truck dieing if I pushed the throttle just a bit too much (fighting the stiffer return spring on the TB) and letting off. After a few weeks of this I modded the TPS and set it for about .71v. Haven't had a problem since. Maybe it's not worth the mod if you're not having trouble, but it fixed my problem.

Message: Sometimes you can buy a new TPS and the stock voltage will be close to .7v. I bought one like that and didn't have to drill out the bushings. When I tightened it, I was watching the DC voltage on my meter and the slop in the bushing was enough to twist it into .7 volts.
Also, good answer, Bob Lincoln.
