Message: I have uncoated JBA's on my 99 5.2 motor and feel they helped the entire powerband. Dont forget, headers can only compliment what's there already (i.e. throttle body, cam, heads, etc.) Just dont expect a 100 hp gain and you'll be satisfied.
BTW, coated headers for $300 is a hella deal if they're in decent shape. Dont be cheap with the exhaust gaskets. Have fun!

Message: Any idea what gasket is good? Haven't used header since the Hookers on my Cuda :)
Not expecting a whole lot with the three cats on it, but a little more towing torque and highway mpg would help.
They look to be in perfect shape :)

Message: jj, I used a set of dead soft aluminum header gaskets and they lasted a looong time, they were even re-useable. I put these on a S-10 350 conversion that had a poor set of headers, constantly blowing gaskets. Once I went to the dead soft aluminum gaskets I never had a problem with blown gaskets again, even with re-using the gaskets 2-3 times. They were on the truck when I sold it. The gaskets are made from several layers (5-10) of aluminum which crushes real nice and gives a good seal.
They are expensive ($30-40) but since you got such a killer deal on the headers you can splurge on a good set of gaskets, get them at Summit, Jegs.

Message: Thanks, I'll check them out. Hate header leaks!
Need some gears and I'll be good to go.
Right now it has decent power, but towing a 4000+ lb. boat at 70 mph taxes it unless I shut the OD off. I think a set of 4.10's would fix that problem and the rpms would be decent instead of almost 3k with the OD off.
Mind you this is towing with the cruise and air on and a throttle stop to eliminate kickdowns :)
