I was thinking of replacing my 2 piece driveshaft with a 1 piece. Why did dodge put a 2 piece driveshaft in the truck?

Less noise and vibration. A multi-peice with all it's associated bearings is certainly more expensive than a simple one piece - so there must be a compelling reason.

don't worry about it OBIO3 it's just "that damn guy"

i have the 2 piece on my truck also. i don't think they did it for weight because it looks much heavier than a 1 piece driving shaft. it could be to strenghten and may provide better ground clearence for the shaft itself but i'm not sure? i have never seen this used on a truck before.

Truck manufactureres have been doing this with longer driveshafts for many years - I first noticed it on a Chevy decades ago. I was told it was because the longer, heavier drive shafts were tougher on u-joints.
