if you turned the key to on, you'd probably blow the starter clean out of its mounts. My .02

How could you blow the starter? When the trans is in neutral the neutral saftey switch won't let the starter engage.

Toolfan, I used to "bounce" my 318 off the rev limiter pretty often. Had a '95 RC with NV3500. Damn that truck was fun, but it could get interesting in the fifteen or so minutes of a fresh rain.
It lived for 314K, then the tranny and interior wireing decided to take a dump on me. Soo I've got a '03 RC 4.7 NV3500 now. The local joke here is that I traded a black V8 five speed, for a black V8 five speed. and I really have to say that I miss the 'ol 318. I've changed to the HO jeep cams, cleaned up the throttle body, ditched the 3.55 for 3.91, and put an Auburn in. And I still think my old '95 would have hung with or possibly even taken this one. I really think your on the right track with that truck. Good luck man!
P.S. I've not had the balls to turn my key to start at 117 ethier.:O (sreams OH $hit as flywheel is chewed into oblivion!)

J2, you have a RT with is a mechanical controlled tranny. Superchips does NOTHING for shifting on those.

My electronic tranny in mine is controlled by the PCM 100%

2003 4.7, what tranny is that? A 4 speed manual???

Not sure if it would bolt to a 440 though...

Hey graphite it is a 4-speed manual. It will bolt to a 440 just need a different bell housing.
I have a 1967 Coronet R/T 440 4-speed (A-833). I am currently restoring it. Oh yeah they are a badass transmission.

Graph,
The 833 is *the* 4 speed tranny. Mopar made a version for every engine they produced in the 60s-70s. Lakewood used to make bellhousings for using the mopar 833 on Chebby mouse and rat motors. An M-22 Muncie is a piece of junk waiting to blow-up compaired to an 833.

Exactly. They're a little hard to shift when you've just rebuilt it and the linkage, shift detents aren't polished. But the're bulletproof, and fun. For the bigblock application they also made a hemi model. I know where one is in the trunk of an 71 challenger R/T. But It's way heavyer in weight than the normal case, and would be hard to carry the 100 or so yards in the dark to get it. ;p The bell is interchangeable from small to big block.

Toolfan, If I was ahead of you when I caught third it was all over but the cryin. Yea it was some trade, I got $4500 for the '95. told 'em nothing was wrong but the interior harness, and they could'nt wait to get it. So I said cool, but when I got down on the 4.7 I knew it needed some work.
BTW we had the big doorslammer, pro-mod race at the local track. New track record was 4.24@153mph. 1/8th mile. It's only been re-opened for about a year though, and a strange track to run. There were JR. dragsters out running 7.55@100 or so, so my truck stayed in the parking lot where it belonged.

2003 4.7 - that bell is not interchangable from small to big block - they are different. Did you mean changable ? You'd have to swap the bell or use an adapter plate.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way
