Message: Flex fans are noisy and dangerous if a blade comes loose. Electric set-ups are better if you can find one w/ enoufh CFM/ flow too handle the job also finding a good fan controller is tough. I feel the stock clutch setup is superior for street use.

Message: I am going with electric on my 4.7. Flex fans are better than the clutch fan but they will still draw more engine power than electric. Also you probably don't want to draw cold air in when starting during the winter which it will do for it's always rotating.

Message: I just installed a Black Magic in front of my 5.2 and I can't think of enough good things to say about it - pulls plenty of air, installed really easy, built in thermostat and A/C relay, very solid AND no more thundering sucking/whooshing sound after start up.

Message:
Definitely stick with either the stock or electric. FlexFans are noisy and do have a tendency to fly through hoods unexpectedly.

Message: Can I remove the factory fan and fan clutch? I want to it off for the HP gains but I'm not sure if that would hurt the motor with A/C. I have the '00 4.7 CC 4X4. Is the water pump pulley pressed on or will I need to get a nut to hold the pulley on? It has a factory electric fan.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Message: I've been driving for 2 weeks now with the clutch fan removed; only the factory electric fan for cooling. The electric fan is apparently temperature-activated; it goes on and off as needed.
Runs just fine. 80 - 97 degrees here lately. A/C on most of the time; no problem.

Message: Hookedon4.7 think you might want to leave the water pump pulley on or you might have trouble turning the water pump, then things will get hot.

Message: I didn't plan on taking the pulley off...I wanted to know if the pulley was pressed on or should I get a nut in the place of the fan clutch? I think I'll play it safe and get a nut for it.

Message: I live in Arizona do you think that the Black Magic fan will cool well enough? Their site says it will cool a 300 hp motor w/o air coditioning or 250 hp motor with air. Am I gonna overheat???

Message: No problem...I got the fan off (easy money) I couldn't find a nut to fit in it's place. So, I decided to take the fan off the clutch and put the clutch back on until I can find a nut to fit. If anyone knows whether or not the pulley is pressed on and I don't need a nut to hold it on, I would really appreciate the help.
