Message: Hey guys,
Just wondering any of your opinions on a nitrous express kit for a 3.9L v-6. part 5122? Is nitrous express the best company to go with for our dakotas?
Thanks,
Josh

Message: I have the Nitrous Express kit for my 318, and I'm sure the V6 kit is the same. Their claimed hp increase is the closest to actual hp than any of the other kits, usually a bit more (according to the dyno). But, I was not happy with the quality of the kit I got. EVERY factory sealed fitting leaked, so it took a lot of extra time to take everything off, fix it, then put it back on. I recommend hooking up the hoses before you actually install it to see if you have any leaks, so you wont have to pull the solenoids off after you already installed them. Also, your paying for the "kit". If you could buy just the parts, it would probably cost you about $200, but that's just how it goes I guess. I would go with the supercharger if you can afford it. I rarely use the bottle, and would like to have the power at all times. Also, a refill will cost you from $3.50 to $5 a pound (10lb bottle), and that 10lbs don't last very long at all. Some of the newer Daks don't have the pressure check valve on the fuel rail. If you don't, you will have to remove the rail and drill it out, which would be a pain. The performance gains are awesome though. I dropped off .7 and gained 11mph in the 1/4 mile, and had to start SLOW because of traction probs. Was only able to hit it after it shifted to 2nd because it would just spin. I have BFG drag radials now and hopefully will get my Powertrax No-Slip today or tomorrow, which will probably take off another .5. Good luck whatever you decide and let me know if you have any installation questions.

Message: Thanks for the reply jeff. So would you reccomend the kit? Can you tell me more about the pressure check valve on the rail, I have a 99 could you tell me if I have one? Also any other install tips would be great! i am installing one on the 18th and would like a good i dea of the tips and tricks to make the install go faster. If you could please send me an email regarding this so i can print it out easily. I really appreciate it.
Thanks,

Message: Yeah, I would recommend that kit over any other, just because of the overall hp gain. You'll see the fuel rails above the valve covers, running just under the throttle body. If you have a "test port", it'll be on the right side (at least mine is) with a cap on it. If you take the cap off, you'll see a valve stem inside that you take out with a valve stem remover (for tires). That's where the fuel line connects. Really easy IF you have that "test port". If not, its another story. You'll have to remove the rails and drill it out and tap it. The installation is pretty easy, although the instructions SUCK. The only problem I had, like I said, was with those factory fittings in the solenoids. You'll need to get some Teflon based thread sealing paste for the pipe type fittings (not the flared). Some fittings will be factory sealed (you'll see the white Teflon sealant), but will probably leak like mine. I would go ahead and reseal those fittings before mounting them. If you have an auto, I wouldn't recommend putting the WOT switch on the throttle body. I mounted mine on the center console, and manually activate it (you'll see why at http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/per/878.html). If you have a stick, you'll probably have no choice, and will have to rig something up to the throttle body. The bottle fits great behind the passenger seat, even in my RC. Point the valve towards the driver seat for easy on/off access. Oh, you'll need a 3/4" drill bit to drill through the cab floor for the line to enter. Other than that, the instructions are pretty strait forward (what there is of them). Good luck!
