Subject: Factory spark gap? IP: Logged
Message: I just installed a set of Autolite 3923's in my Dakota. I was told to use the factory gap. I found this measurement (.040) under my hood with all of the other tech specs. I gapped all of my plugs, then pulled the original ones out. Why are my original plugs all gapped at .055????

Message: Hmmmm, if it were me, I'd be tempted to gap them the same as what the ones were that came out. But I am by far not an authority on the idea. Were all of the ones you took out gapped the same or was it just one that was .055.
Anybody else??

Message: All of my factory plugs were at .055. I have already put the new ones in, and I do not really feel like pulling them back out. Changing plugs on a v8 Dak is not fun. especially on the passenger side.
Anyone know why the engine sits closer to the right fender well than the left? (by 3-4") Must be for weight or torque distribution or maybe there is a TSB out for it!?

Message: To my knowledge its to keep the drive shaft as straight as possible. It has to be over a little because of the gas tank.

Message: The old ones were that big because of erosion/wear and tear. .040 is correct for 97 and up vehicles w/ 5.2/5.9.
