Subject: CHEAP Drive Shaft Fix IP: Logged
Message: Hello all
Just something I found out this past weekend and thought I'd past it on.
A few years ago I drop my 88 2 inches, no big deal here.
A few months ago I put 8 3/4 in the truck, still no big deal.
BUT anybody that has done this knows how much the slip joint goes into the tail shaft, this was a BIG DEAL to me.
I had about 1/4 of an inch of room to get the drive shaft back in.
I'm driving around a few months and this is bothering me.
Anyways I'm stripping a 75 Dart, slant 6 automatic, and measure the drive shaft and it's 2 inches shorter than the stock Dakota.
Eight bolts later and I have a drive shaft that isn't going to bend up on me if the suspension bottoms out on me or something.
I know drive shafts aren't that expensive to have made but my cash flow right now is killing me.
Hope this might help somebody else out of a problem or maybe prevent one.
Jim

Message: I'll bet you already know that if that Dart has disc brakes, those are the spindles needed to convert older A body mopars to disc. My '69 Barracuda is already converted, just thought I'd throw that out there if it helps anyone out.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Message: Those discs are in my basement waiting for a new owner or the first parts of my wifes new car. Now I just have to get the rest of it.
