Subject: Any Problems with SuperChips? IP: Logged
Message: I have been watching this product since it was introduced for the 4.7L. In the beginning, I read a lot of complaints about problems with it locking up the PCM. Has anyone recently had any problems with the SuperChips? My warranty is over, so messing up the PCM is an expensive mistake.

Message: The only problem I have with mine is the DTC reader does not work. Talked to Superchips and they offered to look at it but by the time I pay shipping both ways its not worth it. I have access to a code reader if I ever throw the MIL light.

Message: A lot of people had problems mostly with the tuner needing an update. Many worked right out of the box also, I was fortunate to be one of those who's tuner worked from the get-go but then again my truck was a SuperChips test truck.
If your really considering buying one, find a dealer that will allow you to upload the tuner to your truck prior to buying it so you know it has no "update" issues and then buying it. If it has update issues then he just has to put it back in its box and on the shelf for the next guy who may not have the same issues.

Message: Thanks for the replies. How do you know if it needs updates? It isn't hooked to the internet to see if updates are available or not? What am I looking for when I hook it up?

Message: You'll need to go through the install steps to find out if it needs an update.
I was one of the unlucky ones who had to send mine back twice. But it did finally work.
As for Internet updates, none for you... That would be quite customer friendly, but that's not what they do. The tuner needs to be shipped back to SuperChips for updates. PITA!

Message: I had to send my tuner back to superchips in april when i first bought it. Now it being close to August i think superchips has pretty much all the bugs worked out of them. I haven't heard of anyone else having to return theirs for a while now.
