Message: I got a good deal on some JBA's - couple hundred new,,from B&G if I remember correctly. A noticeable improvement in the RPM's for sure. I had a shop do mine cause at the time my back was all jacked up. The fit was perfect,,,I check the bolts every so often,,but still super snug,,no leaks. The insides of the JBA's needed to be cleaned up w/a file though,,alot of slag in there.

post a before and after dyno, under similiar ambient conditions.
If no one has showm a real gain yet, why would you waste the time, effort, money, etc.

Message: Peak dyno gains don't mean squat when your towing or hauling. Moving that torque down to the 2-3000 level is what you get from your shory headers. Maybe ten HP on a dino at peak, who cares. Twenty pounds of torque moved down low was worth it for me. Don't care what it does at peak.

Message: Show me a dyno that moves THAT much to anywhere, on a 4.7. I guess you missed all the posts years ago in the archives, about how the stock headers dyno w/in 2% difference than aftermarket headers?
THAT much, ANYWHERE, peak, etc.

Message: I think a lot of the gains these folks say they "feel" are only mental, and they are too embarassed to admit they might have wasted the money.
Other than the companies selling these things, I have not seen a dyno sheet from an actual consumer to document horsepower or torque gains on an actual consumer's 4.7L engine.
Long-tube headers and longer intake runners would do more to add low end power.
Anyone?

Message: Jake,
I posted before and after dynos, before with some mods, and after adding the SC tuner, at all three settings and the different octanes.
Too bad the Dak owner I sent it to I guess needed the room on his server or something, cause the post has been gone awhile.
If anyone can post it for me, shoot me an e-mail, and I'll mail em to ya.
Others have posted past mod before and after dybno results also.
Perhaps you meant one with the headers being the change in mods, and as I said, I haven't either.

Message: I guess I just imagined the gains from putting headers on my 4.7 Before putting them on, no rubber from first to second, after install about 2 feet of rubber.
My dyno numbers were 210hp 263tq
Stock was about 168hp ???tq
quarter mile on street tires 15.17
mods HO cams, headers, catback duels, super chips, shaker hood. CC auto.

Message: Todd. Who do you have for internet provider?
Most give webspace.
Cox gives about 70 megs total (10 megs per email adress you set up).
My server I pay for gives me about 100 Gigs I think.
Let me know what you have. It's easy to set up webspace of your own and almost every single internet provider gives you webspace.

Message: Thanks for the replies. Is anyone making aftermarket heads besides the KRC 4.7L Street port heads ($1900)? With the exception of KRCperformance there doesn't seem to be a lot of aftermarket parts for this engine (besides headers and TB's)

Message: Stampede,
You get two feet of rubber in second with an auto?
Many stock 4.7's put down about 200 even HP. Not sure how you only got 168? the difference there is huge, but something doesn't smell right. Especially when people posted dyno of their 4.7, with like only an intake, and even bone stock, and put down about 200hp.
My pre SuperChips was 218, but that wasn't stock, and most of it was HO cams. Stock exhaust. I do have the third cat removed though, everything elso exhaust wise is stock. But also HO intake, no belt clutch/fan, (dynoed by 'alex' at ~ 5 hp,).
Stamp, I'm not saying anything about you, or the numbers, 'cept something about your stock #'s doesn't seem right.
By the way, my perf, 93oct SC laid down 227 hp, and 300ft/lbs torque, RW! Add one to 301 ft/lbs w/o the K&N drop in in my homebrew intake.
Graphite, I use Road Runner.

Message: Something else to consider is the changes made by the factory. 03 and up have the HO intake, 04 has no third cat Etc. They never changed any ratings for them, but you no they had an effect. Diffrent years have diffrent results. Prior to 03 everyone was griping about rotors. Mine have 64000 on them with 4 wheel discs. Things change.

Message: Deeridge,
Than as you say, why don't you have more out of your stock #'s. What year is yours again?
My 01, QC, 2wd, manual 5 spd, Tire and Handling pack, Trailer towing pack, stock with the 9.25 rear, I ohad ordered the LSD, stock with the oversized 11" rear drums, has the ORIGINAL rotors, brakes, Ball joints, etc. Drives like a dream, (really nice).
My #'s are without the heads or anything ever off or touched, and only the third cat removed. I did port my own 68mmTB, and make my own homebrew, both probably worth less than 3 hp.
Do you have a dyno of the before and after with only the change of the exh. manifold to headers? If there's much there, I'd bolt some nice aftermarkets on.

Message: Todd, Road Runner. I've never heard of them. But go online and see what kind of web space they give you.
Is it HIGH SPEED CABLE/DSL, or are you using Dial Up? (YUKK!)
BTW. My 03 has only ONE cat. I WISH it had the two pre cats so I could easily make duals.
