Message: WIth a 4" crank and a 4" bore you can get a 318 up to a 402 ..... but the cylinder walls will be thin you would be better off with a 360 OR stroke and bore a 360 to a 408....

Message: with a 4" crank in your 318, you can get a 390. It's undersquare but it would make a lot of torque.

A stroker 318 is no slouch in the HP dept either.

Message: If you could snag a Ram's NV4500, that'd be nice and stout. Also, a Tremec 5 or 6 speed are often swapped into later Daks by the guys at keislerauto.com

Come on man, think about that for a minute. You're increasing the stroke. Use the same pistons and they'll slam into the heads. In fact, you wouldn't even be able to bolt the heads on. You either use shorter rods with stock height pistons (bad idea), or keep the stock length rods, and use shorter pistons (very good idea). The shorter, stronger pistons are lighter and reduce reciprocating weight, which helps the stroker rev quicker by at least partially off-setting the slower-to-rev tendencies of longer stroke engines. Typically, aftermarket rods are used since they are very strong, tend to also be lighter than stock, and require less block notching for clearance at the bottom of the bores. In a low-buck operation, the stock rods are very stout, but should at least be shot-peened for added strength when used in a stroker.
ARP bolts for the rods and mains are an excellent investment here.
Custom PCM programming for the extra cubes.
An M1 intake is an easy intake upgrade. I'd imagine larger injectors would be req'd.
A larger throttle body will compliment things.
More cam! You can't go much beyond .510 valve lift with the stock heads without some mods due to rocker arm/valve spring interference. Keep that in mind when considering cams.
Head porting helps too. Naturally, headers and larger exhaust for better breathing.
What else guys?
