man,

I should trade my Dak in and get a 2WD Reg Cab Colorado, with a 5-Cylinder,

it'll probably smoke my dak, and they are cheap too.

what do you guys think?

i've ridden in one and they don't seem that fast to me. it could probably take my 3.9, but i have trouble seeing it take a 4.7. they are light as hell but what use would you have for it other than maybe better mileage and quickness to dart around in traffic perhaps. you sure couldn't haul anything with it like the dak could handle. in my opinion, they are cheap for a reason, plus they're way more ugly compared to a gen3 dakota.

I guess you are right,

the only way it will be fast, is if you get a 2WD, Reg Cab, 5-speed, 3.73s, 5 Cylinder,

and that really isn't that practical for a truck

but they are cheap as hell, like you said

I really don't like the cheap plastic dash

the colorado only gets like 1 or 2 MPG more than the 4.7. went to a dealership that sells dodge and chevy on the same lot. they had the trucks parked side by side. I was shocked at the poor gas mileage. I have read people that owned colorados talk about poor preformance. this is why they are putting a turbo on them I think next year.

I may have to buy one of these miniture trucks next year, if they come with a Turbo.

but wouldn't a Turbo cause the Gas Mileage to be worse?

but still, if it boosts that 220 HP to 270 or so, and the Tq from 225 to 275, that thing might be cool.

but still, dreaming is dreaming

I have changed my mind, I don't plan to sit in a Colorado,

Have you heard one of them 5 bangers with a Flowmaster/Dynomax, etc yet???

Pretty DAMN SAD!

I'll stick with my 4.7 that sounds AND performs awesome. And if your 4.7 4X4 doesn't just wax that Colorado, you must have something wrong!

yea, a 2005 Tacoma Smokin huh?

you wanna hook up to my Dak with that 4.0L Tacoma?

I will jerk the rear end out from under it

I do like those X-Runners though, but if I wanted something really fast, I'd just get a Neon SRT-4, at least it is still a Dodge, and under 24 grand.

I wanna see how much that 2005 Tacoma 4.0 can tow.

I know my Dakota will out tow and jerk that little toy around backwards.

I can also borrow my Brothers 2003 Cummins HO, 2500 Reg Cab with a 6-speed manual and 4.10s, and tear apart a Tacoma or a Tundra.

so, if you wanna talk about Toyotas some more, you can go to a Toyota Board,

and yea, I can go to a Chevy board and talk about Colorado's too. but hey, what can I say?

my mom just traded in her 03' stang gt 5 speed for a 05' craporodo with the 5 cyl. and 3.42 gears, 4 door. i must say it i like my dak so much more now after driving that piece of crap, there is no way that thing has anywhere near 200 horses in it i could dust it with the 33's on my truck with absolutly no prob. and my 4.7 is stock. i think that they over rated the engine a little, i know it is a 4 door but it has about 3 inches more room in the back than my cc i just dont see why anyone would want one, unless u want better gas milage, then buy a damn honda the ridgeline got num. 1 on car and drivers mid size truck comparison

like I said they don't FEEL fast but are respectable, quad cab Z71's runs 16.5-16.8 not bad for a I5. The dak has way more low end grunt.

When i rented one last year, i thought: - Oh my god. What a piece of crap GM is puting out.
It is in a completely different class of everything compared to my lightly moded 5 sp manual w/ the 3.92 LSD 4.7 cc 2wd dakota.

i must say, i played with a colorado not too long ago in the rain. i was slipping a lot, and i still raped him. not sure what setup he had, but i wouldn't buy one. i've found nicer looking things in my toilet than the new chevy line. if chevy went back to the last gen styling, then redid the colorado, i wouldn't hate it nearly as much. i've owned one chevy in my life, and that was enough for me.

220 Ft/Lbs Torque just doesn't cut it in a truck the size of the Colorado. GM should be ashamed of themselves for offering such marginal performance.

No a v8 dodge dakota getting beat by v6 toyotas and I5 colorados is bad. People buy full sizes to tow some buy mid but most are full sizes. All dodge has to say is there truck can tow more who cares The tacoma and colorado are better sellers and that's the goal in the industry.

that is true on some aspects,

but the reason why the Colorado and Canyon sell so good is because they are ass cheap.

my truck was fully loaded when I got it in 01, for about 21,000 (was 23, or 24), brand new, and the same price as a 2001 Tacoma 4cyl, 4x4, extended, 5-speed that I test drove, alls I know is that I got a helluva deal.

I am glad I chose the Dak

you can get a Colorado for like 18 grand, silimar to my setup with a 4x4 and ext cab 5-speed 5 cyl.

Me needs to study a little more economics. the goal of the industry is more profit, not selling more. just because they sell more doesn't mean they make more of a profit. these company's work based on net sales, meaning fullsize, midsize trucks, suv's, vans, cars, etc. as a whole profit. as long as dodge is making more profit than the others, they could care less who sells more. it's a little known secret of the industry. all it means is that they need to come up with something in their advertising that compensates for the "best-seller" title, which they do with "only v8 in it's class" and "best payload and towing capacity in it's class". there are many other factors also, but that's the basics.

In October '04 I was shopping for a new truck, I couldn't find the Dak I wanted, my wife & I stopped in at a Chevy Stealership and considered a Colorado, I was not real impressed with the interior styling, or the exterior styling either. I sucked down my pride and even let the saleman force me into a test drive. I left the dealership and had not even merged onto the highway before I was looking for a shortcut back to the lot! I didn't even make it 1/4 mile before I pulled over and made the wife drive it back! What a piece of Junk!

I compared the Dak 4.7 QC 4x4 w/Colorado L5 QC 4x4 and the Colorado was about $4k more!

I finally found the Dak I wanted (Friday), the salesman copied all my info, tossed me the keys and told me to bring it back Monday. That's when we closed the deal :)

Used '02 Dak QC 4x4, 42k miles, $16,870 w/extended warranty- Out the door!
