Subject: Paxton s/c Problem! Please Help ME!!! IP: Logged
Message: I've installed my paxton novi 1000 on my 4,7 2002 dakota. But when i've start the engine the idle sound very good and I wait for the oil temp. to get a little higher to go make a road test. At each time I try to put RPM over 2500 the engine stall... like if i've got the RPM cut off. I've changed the program in the paxton cpu but It does not change anything. As soon as the boost came over 0Psi the engine stall, drop of 200 RPM and came back to life.
Please give me some answer about that! It cost to me 4000$ and I can't use it!

Message: IMHO, Paxton is definately not a do-it-yourself installation, regardless of what they say, unless you have plenty of SC experience. Call Paxton at 805-604-1336. They will be glad to answer any of your questions.

Message: Could be one of two things: ignition or fuel delivery.
Start with your ignition system. Make sure everything is in good condition. If it's all stock, close the spark gap a little - like to .035. If there are aftermarket ignition parts, make sure they are set up correctly.
Put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail where you can see it. Make sure you have enough pressure as the revs climb. If not, you'll lean out the mixture and burn a piston pretty quick.
You should get a quality fuel/air mixture meter, like a Haltech or LM-1. Without it, you're kind of guessing what's happening.

Message: I don't think it's any of these two thing.
It is only when I use the PCM that came with the S/C. If I remove it and put wiring like before the mods, The engine don't cut off. I think that the PCM don't send the good value at 2500 and higher (like crank position) and there his a safety on that. Every thing goes well with the engine before the mods. I' almost sure it's a PCM error.
